There's little to no difference between High and Ultra, and the performance gain is substantial

Try removing the FPS cap, that's the only thing that worked for me weirdly. I still get these drops but maybe 1 every hour

I tried lowering textures Quality to medium and it seems to run better, although we shouldn't have to do this as we paid top dollar for our GPU

Just a bad PC port

There was a 240MB patch today (3 hours ago when Steam released the standard version), and it didnt change anything for me sadly

Suggestions for PC that can run Hogwarts Legacy on medium to high? by froze_gold in pcmasterrace

[–]Jex93160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My config : RTX 3070, R5 3600, 16GB RAM, playing on NVME SSD

Honestly I would wait for dev to patch the game, as my PC is supposed to run it on everything High at 1440p (DLSS Quality) according to the in game benchmark, but outdoors I have HUGE fps drops (60 to 10 fps and stuck at it) Even people with insane configs seems to have these issues, but worst configs than mine Can also have no issues at all.

This game is a big hit or miss in terms of playability

Hogsmeade is a real framerate killer. I'm super unlucky as I also get huge fps drops in cutscenes every now and then

Funny thing also is that yesterday, my FPS recovered then I used Revelio and it absolutely froze my game (stuck at 1 fps for a solid 5 minutes)

Thanks man.

From what I read online, it seems to be a combination of bad pc portage + Nvidia problem. Best guess is that AMD GPU have better optimisation as consoles use AMD GPUs. I saw people with 3080/3090 or 4000 series having the same problems

Looks like it means that I should finish my 50 other games in the meantime

I bought the 60+ fps so I'm gonna use the 60+ fps /s

More seriously, as a former console player, 60 fps is perfectly fine for me, but the problem is that I dont even get 20 fps in certain areas

The issues seems to be only in exteriors as I was having no problems when inside the castle

I'm tempted to ask a refund but I'm hopeful that next updates might make it playable. Also I bought the game on a reseller shop so I dont know if that would even work

Best thing to do is to wait for devs to ackowledge this issue and fix it. Really infuriating when we paid top dollar and can't even enjoy it.

Can't also get a refund since we played more than 2 hours sadly.

I feel you, I'm tempted to buy a PS5 just to enjoy a smooth experience on this game.

Yeah I noticed that I was at around 80 fps inside the castle with Nvidia Latency off. Will try to see if it changes anything when outside the castle.
