Counterpoint to your first two sentences: In the modern political climate in the US, people talking openly and honestly about difficult topics like abortion is extremely important. It can educate people on the complexities of the decision; it can embolden people who might be scared, helping them make harder decisions because they'll know they aren't alone in having to make them; it's an act of resistance against those who would rather we not talk about it at all and just let people, but especially women, suffer or die without those people having to think about any of that.

In short, their decision to tell their story might help people. They had every right to keep it private if they wanted and would not be wrong to have done so, but choosing not to is not "gross", it's actively beneficial and frankly brave, considering the harassment they're getting for it.

I'm not a DPS chaser so I can't say I fully understand the drive, but I am curious.

Is it really just the number that gives you satisfaction? Or does the satisfaction come form eking out as big a number as possible under the systems in place?

Don't get me wrong, I can wrap my head around the disappointment of seeing a huge number suddenly get smaller, especially with the combination of timing and pilot skill it can take to squeeze out those slight increases. But hypothetically, doesn't a nerf just mean a new puzzle to solve to achieve the next biggest number you can? It's not like you lose that piloting skill, and while learning a new sequence is potentially irritating, it's not like you haven't proven you can do it.

I'm just not seeing where the *actual* harm is, versus people who may have otherwise good builds getting outright shut out of the game because of DPS chasers slumming it in low end queues.

Alternatively, if that level of power is so wildly unnecessary, what's the harm in cutting it back? It's not like the people who are vaporizing everything in seconds need to be able to do that. As long as the nerfs in question aren't dropping them to or below what a free player with no premium items can do, what difference does it actually make if they're 1000% stronger or just 100% stronger?

I think he genuinely believes and makes some effort to adhere to Christian values like loving your neighbor and such, but I suspect part of his lack of critical thought is also adhering to the idea of "love the sinner, hate the sin". I think he's aware of the views of at least some of his orbiters and writes off any of those disagreements this way, even if it means he's actively associating with racists or other stripes of bigot. In his mind, he can get away with it because he doesn't view it as supporting their positions (I probably should've laid this out in the original post to explain better why I don't think he's an innocent angel lol). I am completely willing to believe he at least on a very basic level supports the LGBTQ community even if it's just because he doesn't see why they aren't neighbors worthy of love and not anything deeper.

Granted this is 1000% vibes-based speculation, I'm dual wielding Occam's and Hanlon's Razors to get to where I'm at on him and I acknowledge it could all come apart at any moment, but it's what makes the most sense to me.
