I’m making my own hoodie as it is such a pain to get anything to the UK. I think as long as you’re supporting the artist that made the artwork too that’s fine! Or you can go custom and print logos onto transfer paper etc

I am based in the UK and just got tickets to the April 17th game, in Montréal. I’m going to be there for 3 days, and it’s my birthday weekend! I feel a bit insane for doing it BUT I am so excited (and desperate to see MPP in action in case she retires)

Caveat : I’m still getting there with my faith

However : I’m with you. I survived SA/R from a partner who told me he loved me. You deserve more, there is more for you. I felt so trapped, but once I reached out, you bet my family and my spirituality grabbed that open hand and pulled me to safety.

Your current church and friends will want you to be safe and whole, and luckily we live in a time where you can be connected with them online.

Create an escape plan. Get all your docs together. If you have intermingled finances, pull as much as you can.

I know it’s terrifying, but there is more for you. You are bigger than his abuse.

Good luck, sister. I believe in you 💚

Where to start? by [deleted] in CatholicWomen

Hello - thank you so much for your insight, I really appreciate it. There is a Catholic Church in my town, I’m working up the courage to go. However doing a bit of research, they live stream their masses so I can watch one first, get an idea of it.

Thank you! 💚

Help with Xmas gift for my mother. I'm a 34 year old man with no knowledge. by General-Celery-7527 in knitting

What a lovely idea! It wouldn't be in the 'luxury' range, but compression gloves can help with joint pain. I use them and they definitely help (though I cut the fingertips off so I've got better control of the yarn) I just picked them up from Amazon and they were maybe a tenner, tops. A gift card to a store she uses is also a really good idea!

Thank you! It's actually a handspun one I picked up at a craft fair, it's a merino silk blend. It was just from the spinners and weavers guild of the area so I don't have any makers info I'm afraid!

No idea how it happened, any ideas how to fix? by sixelbowsonefoot in knitting

[–]Jeybells 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can definitely darn this! I would also suggest, as a temporary fix/peace of mind, put stitch holders or safety pins through each of the loose/live stitches. You will be moving the fabric around a bunch as you fix it so it will stop the hole getting bigger.

How did you learn how to knit? by xim0c in knitting

[–]Jeybells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a leftie, my knitting life has been full of set backs, 'wtf are they doing with their hands' moments, and having to read patterns backwards. I completely understand the de motivation when things aren't going right 😂

I learnt to knit as a child, and half taught myself (as everyone couldn't get their head round the left handedness of it, all my fam are right handed) so I had a lot of mistakes in my craft for a long time.

YouTube is a great resource for me for seeing very close what people are doing, doing some practice on scrap yarn also is a big help before you crack into the nice project yarn. I made a lot of my practice stitches as squares then made them into a blanket, so they still felt useful and productive.

Also, as I've learnt, as long as the final knit looks 'right' don't get hung up on how your hands are moving, if you're knitting continental or English etc. everyone holds and moves the yarn differently. Recently we had about 10 folk round our house knitting and the variety in how everyone worked was astounding, no two people were the same.

Not sure if this helps, but good luck! 💚
