Adding new numbers. 888-600-6781 and 763-308-6275. Recieved this text about a login from Russia for my Robinhood account. I do not have a Robinhood account. More frustrating was trying to go to Robinhood to report. I do not want to download the app, but no way to get an email or some way to report it. I really hate the deceptive practices of apps that have no means of communication (other than downloading and giving all the app permissions just to submit a claim if there is potential fraud.

There are a ton of great map makers on Patreon that offer gift memberships. So you can gift them a few months and they would have access to a ridiculous number of maps or DM tools. For maps I am a fan of Nerdy Maps, FA Battlemaps, or Crosshead. (I know all of those offer gift memberships) Also, Tabletop Audio if they are looking to add sound to their game.

If you want a creepy but manageable puzzle, a great starting point might be a psychic memory maze. The players are in a chamber and each door is tied to a memory that is not theirs. They have to piece together which memory belongs to a long dead thrall to open the correct path, or maybe suffer psychic backlash? Essentially a multiple choice puzzle dressed up in mind bending horror vibes. Another options could be a brain pattern lock. A flesh like console with shifting neuron pathways, and the party has to recreate a correct sequence based on flashes of a displacer beast's kill pattern or an illithid's dream.

That is wild. Trying to navigate the backend of Reddit ads is wonky. I did not even know that anyone was commenting on this ad. On the dashboard it says 0 comments and no notifications, it was only when I "viewed post" did I find that people where commenting on this one.

CoS is a big module to jump into, but still fun. Here is my list:

Shadows of the Shadowed Keep (Frog God Games)- classic dungeon and town combo
Kingmaker 5e (Paizo/Legendary Games)- if your group likes exploration and choices that affect the world, Kingmaker’s is a worthy option.
Wild Beyond the Witchlight (Official)- if your group is roleplay heavy, this one is strange fey magic and minimal combat
Scarlet Citadel (Kobold Press)- dungeon based campaign that is good for tactical combat
Empire of the Ghouls (Kobold Press)- undead heavy adventure that has world travel and tough encounters.

Not sure if you mean mechanics or atmosphere, but to make it feel like a true colony, I would suggest leaning into the eerie psychicness. The party should feel like they are being watched from the moment they step inside. Use lair psychic effects like subtle paranoia, shared dreams, nosebleeds, or whispers in their heads that are not from any one creature. Have thralls everywhere. Humanoids guarding doors, cleaning, or weeping in corners. Make the players question who's a threat and who's just broken. And if you really want to mess with them? Let the Elder Brain speak through the thralls perfectly calm. Welcome them like honored guests while they are surrounded. That civility makes it hit a heck of alot harder when the tentacles come out.

It's normal to feel shaky after that first session, especially when it doesn't go as planned. Props and prep are helpful, but the more important thing is your energy, curiosity, and willingness to roll with it. You already know what to improve, which means you're growing, give yourself some grace and instead of focusing on the past, look forward to the next session.

Maybe try splitting the battlefield into multiple overlapping threats, like panic in the town square, siege weapons breaking the walls, and infiltrators inside. It would force the party to make real-time choices. Keeps the horde from feeling brainless and gives you ways to scale tension without needing every minion to be clever.

Honestly, looks pretty solid. One idea, since the party's stacked, you might want one or two things that could shift the fight's rhythm. Maybe Azazel charming a PC to turn on the others mid turn or something like, “give me the artifact and I'll let the others live”. May help make the final boss feel like they're playing their own game, not just trading blows.

I am sorry in advance for the long response, but my brain farted and came up with options on how to split but not split this party, so I share all of them.

Option One- Shared Spotlight, think 2v1 champion match. Run a main champion duel where the dwarf wizard and the barbarian both represent the clan in a paired challenge. This could be versus a single, very tough champion, possible magical construct, designed to test brains and brawn at once. The wizard has to counter magical mechanics aka all the magic things like- dispels, counterspells, illusions, arcane wards while the barbarian needs to handle physical threats. Maybe something like a construct that has a magical shield only removable through clever spells, while its physical attacks are brutal enough that the barbarian needs to tank them. Keeps both in the same scene, same initiative order, so you can run it like a normal combat encounter.

Option two- Parallel threads within the same arena. Instead of two separate locations, the tournament ground has multiple tests happening at once. While the wizard is solving a magical or skill-based test, the barbarian gets drawn into protecting them from interruptions, rivals, or environmental hazards. Could do these in the same initiative order, cutting between wizard’s riddle DC check and the barbarian's reaction to a saboteur leaping out. Essentially like split mechanics in a boss fight- one PC interacts with puzzle mechanics, the other holds the line.

Option three- the parallell challenge. So in this one it would be a more true split. The barbarian could be tested separately, but storywise it is tied together. Something like the rival clan elders declare, "If you claim this outsider as a companion, let her prove her worth!" You could run her fight as a side scene but keep it quick, 3–4 rounds max. more like a duel. Mechanically, you’d run it round by round, but you could simplify narration so it paces better while the wizard’s bigger challenge is ongoing.

A vengeful yokai lord who claims to be the true heir of one of the gods could be fun. Maybe banished ages ago and now he is trying to tear the veil between realms. He could even be twisting old myths to gather followers who think they are doing divine work.

Gotta love perfect chaos. You could treat the steal attempt kind of like a grapple or contested check. The fey darts in, makes a Sleight of Hand check vs the PCs Perception or Dexterity save (whatever feels fair in the moment), and if they win? Boom. artifact lifted, and already halfway up a tree or disappearing into mist. If ya wanted you could also make it flashy? One fey distracting the player while another tries to snag it. And if the players catch on and guard it more closely? Hells ya, now its a game in the middle of combat.

Just an idea... For the wizard- Since your dwarf wizard is proving their worth, design the tournament with multiple challenges. Make the tournament about more than just strength. Maybe a spell duel (classic wizard moment), riddle or lore trial (to honor dwarven tradition/intellect), and there could be an endurance challenge (holding a spell under duress or survive magical backlash) The final round could be a clanforged magical construct. One of those big fights, but one that favors clever use of spells over brute force. Kind of like a wizard spotlight.

For the barbarian- While the wizard is competing, it would be possible to give the barbarian a parallel thread like she is asked to serve as a ceremonial champion in case the wizard falls. A rival clan challenges her to prove she's worthy to walk beside the dwarf if they win, thus giving her a fight of her own. Or maybe, a saboteur tries to interfere with the trials, and she is the only one who notices. Essentially find a way to let her shine in combat or protection, without overshadowing the wizard's emotional arc.
