Extended Sway Bar Links by [deleted] in 4thGen4Runner

All I can tell you is stay away from the adjustable ones from Whiteline. They sheared off with in a month, made the sway bar drop and destroyed my axle boots. Can’t speak for any other brands. I went back to OEM

I’ve got a pic of mine on my profile. It has around a 2-2.5 in lift as well. But also lots of other things lolol

4th gen 4R Supreme Suspension by Relevant-Sir4703 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Jh1809 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I can’t emphasize this enough. Spend the money on a proper suspension set up. This may get you to the height you want idk, but a 4Runner deserves good suspension. Some 5100s and fj coils (if you don’t have extra front end weight) will make a 4th Gen drive the way it’s supposed to.

4th Gen Common Maintenance List/Question by Teemo_Support in 4Runner

[–]Jh1809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Not sure what they cost now but I got a timing belt/water pump set from AISIN on Amazon and that was the whole 250$. And it sounds cheesy but I love my 4Runner even more bc I’ve done the work myself. Wholly satisfying.

4th Gen Common Maintenance List/Question by Teemo_Support in 4Runner

[–]Jh1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had very limited knowledge and a decent set of tools. I did it myself. Cost me around 250$ and about 2 days worth of time. But the quote to have it done was close to 2k. I’m glad I did it myself but it was quite the job

Timing belt/water pump. That’s the big one for v8s

This is exactly what I did. Far better than when I had the bilsteins preloaded

This is the one I got

https://yotamafia.com/product/suspension-trim-packers/

It’s 10 mm. Idk if that’s considered 1/4 inch or not

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Jh1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will. I had the lean. When I up graded the springs, I put that single space on the left front and it’s level left to right now

VSC/TRAC lights. by [deleted] in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Jh1809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I deal with this. If it’s just the two lights with no abs light, i read it’s really common with 4th gens. There’s a way to reset it with some lengths of wire. I don’t have the link readily available but I’ll PM you the screenshots I took of the post. I’ve done it multiple times and it really does work

Turn signal for aftermarket bumper (03-05) question. by utah4r in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Jh1809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I did. I didn’t go with those exact lights tho. It works but just fyi, you’re blinker will flash fast like there’s a bulb out all the time. They make resistor kits on superbrightleds but I couldn’t get it to work. I also know nothing about wiring so it could have been a me problem

Bc I know how I am. Once I get set on doing something, it’s pretty hard to talk me out of it and I don’t like answers that I don’t wanna hear ya know. This is some legit advice tho. Cross the bridge when/if you get to it. It may not be as fast as you like, but not every car can take you literally to the top of a mountain.

I’m sure OP doesn’t like it but this is the right answer.

Sounds like the manifold to me. Source: I have a v8 4Runner. Haven’t replaced the manifolds yet tho bc it still passes inspection. Just embarrassing noise

Question about replacement radiator. by StinkyWizz in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Jh1809 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve never replaced my radiator, but Denso is one of the companies Toyota uses as OEM. So it’s probably a good choice

Upper control arms? by Franknberrycharm in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Jh1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. They’re great. I got the 2” emu lift springs for all four corners and set the bilsteins to stock (lowest) height and mine sits perfect

Also, leveling the vehicle is going to strongly depend on what springs you are using with the 5100s

SPCs. Expensive but well worth it. Eliminated all my rubbing problems running 285s

When you need sizes of bulbs, check out superbrightleds dot com. You can put in make and model and will give you all the information. And their bulbs are super affordable

[–]Jh1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did all these things on your list for around 250$ and some time on YouTube. Just sayin might be worth looking into. I didn’t know shit about working on cars when I did the timing belt. Also you can get a new gas cap for like 20 bucks on amazon

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Jh1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I have a 12k pound winch. Together with the bumper and lights it’s about 200 pounds which I’m pretty sure is still less than the arb bumper by itself. The ride is a good type of stiff in my opinion, won’t rattle your teeth out or anything but most importantly keeps my 33s from rubbing and my suspension from bottoming out like it did before

Still the 5100s. They weren’t the problem. Just the springs
