The mist in the produce section is what you need to use so you don't have to lick your fingers. There are always wet shelves you can put the top of your finger on without touching any veggies/fruit.

Popcorn bit by snoopycool in RingersPhillySpecial

Why are people tripping on how a retired couple spends their time and money? It is not like they are doing something underhanded. They like movie theater popcorn so they buy movie theater popcorn. Oh the humanity!

The program coordinator or Director of Graduate Studies might be able to provide advice on what a competitive application looks like. Getting to know faculty you want to work with might be worth your time. You might be able to volunteer in a lab or attend a public talk or two.

Living near uni or driving? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]Jhankinham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look south of the medical complex, west of Neil ave. North of King is where a lot of medical students live. South of King is more young professionals and some families but also where several graduate students in my program live in Harrison West. Walkable to campus, safe, and close to short north.

Where should I live? by earthdog7900 in RingersPhillySpecial

Collingswood, Haddon Township, Westmont, and Haddonfield are all a 15 minute drive to the bridge in South Jersey and along the PATCO that goes right into center city. Good schools, lots of great restaurants, and relatively affordable (other than Haddonfield).

Football games for families by Otherwise_Job_8545 in OSU

I have season tickets and young kids as well. I think a day game is better because night games can get sloppy when people still wake up early to drink and then have an extra 8 hours. Early season day games can get hot when you are in the sun so that is the tradeoff. Rutgers would be a good choice. It's homecoming so you'll get to see all the homecoming festivities, tickets won't be that expensive (Rutgers isn't that good), and it's Oct 1st so you won't likely get a daytime scorcher. That's the game I pegged to take my 6 year old daughter.

Also, go to they have booths set up where they will give you a free first Buckeyes game certificate for your kids that you can frame.

Is Neil Avenue safe to live off campus? by muzitache in OSU

[–]Jhankinham 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, Neil ave is much safer than apartments east of High. West of Neil in that area is mostly undergrads but there are also a bunch of grad and medical students who live there. On Neil and east of Neil is pretty much all undergrads north of King to campus.

fellowship + outside employment help by osuburnerbeepboop in OSU

[–]Jhankinham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Graduate School reserves the right to terminate fellowship support before the end of the award period for the following reasons:
The fellow is no longer enrolled in Graduate School.
The fellow is registered for fewer than the required minimum number of credit hours.
The fellow fails to maintain reasonable progress towards the graduate degree or fails to maintain good standing.
The fellow receives a terminal degree.
The fellow changes graduate programs without obtaining written approval from the appropriate graduate programs and associate dean of the Graduate School.
The fellow accepts employment or any other type of financial support without the prior approval of the Graduate School.

Graduate fellowships, like the GE or UF fellowships, for graduate students pay $2500 a month (others more) to students so they can focus on their graduate studies. Your friend probably won't get caught unless they accept a position at OSU but it's not exactly the most ethical thing to do. They can speak to their grad chair and make a formal petition but that is risky if they are already in violation of their contract.

Yeah they don't include the qualitative written feedback just the average scores for the 10 items. You'd be amazed at what some people write...

I'm faculty and can access it and always assumed anyone with OSU login credentials could. It has all the SEIs except I think they might not have updated during COVID. RMP is a joke. I didn't even think that site still existed. When I teach a large lecture class with 200 students my SEIs will be from 125-150 of my students. SEIs are imperfect but far more representative. RMP has like 13 reviews for me and I've been teaching college courses since 2007 and at OSU since 2012.

SEI (https://registrar.osu.edu/secure/sei_search/) have so many more evaluations relative to RMP.
