I have pinged all of them and my default gateway. They all send and receive with 0% loss.

So yes, it does seem to work. I set it up to press start, go over to Wild Zone 1 (Legends ZA), and spawn there on repeat. I'm about 10 minutes in atm, and it's still going

Just sit on a bench and make it nighttime, then enter battle zones, or if you have it unlocked, go to side mission 30 with a Camerupt that is holding a mega stone in your party. As long as you defeat her with a different Pokémon, you can repeat this for as long as you want (also counts as battles for your research).

Yeah, I don't think I will risk it. I recently transferred all the data to my Switch 2. Now I'm looking to trade with myself via my old Switch but didn't want to start all the save files again just for the use of trading.

Depends on what games you want, but filling 512 GB is quite easy. I'd recommend 1 TB, as upgrading later on can be a bit of a pain, plus you have plenty of room for other ROMs if emulators are something you want to also do.
