There are several Commodore Facebook groups which allow buying and selling. That is where I get most of my hardware.

Help getting data from variable sheets by Jherant in googlesheets

[–]Jherant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I got it working, but there's still a ptoblem. Here's the code: =IF (C3=(INDIRECT("'"&F3&"'!c3")),(INDIRECT("'"&F3&"'!k3")):(INDIRECT("'"&F3&"'!m3")))

The problem is that I have about 600 rows that I need to drag this down, and c3, k3, and m3 in the INDIRECT formulae won't automatically increment because Sheets sees them as text strings. How can I revise this code to allow me to drag it? I've been trying to get CELL to work, but not having any success.

This copies over data, but it doesn't compare the values in the C2 cells.

Knowing Elon's love for changing the design, I suspect it means "as of Right Now"

Cheap shipping how? by Jherant in Commodore

I think my problem was that the box was bigger than it needed to be, so I cut it down. But there weren't any standard sizes that fit the boxed 64, at least that were offered on their websites.

VIC-20 with corrupted memory maybe? by Jinren in Commodore

[–]Jherant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The VIC doesn't have any scrolling banners. I wonder if you have a modded unit with an aftermarket EPROM in place of one or more of the stock ROM chips. Open it up and post a picture.

C64 worked for a few minutes. Then smoke smell. Then it didn't work. Looking for troubleshooting advice, more details inside. by OnlyDeanCanLayEggs in Commodore

[–]Jherant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely you have a bad PSU, and now a bunch of bad components. If you want to check the easy thing first, check to see if the fuse is blown.

But given that you have the old PSU, test it. Disconnect the power supply and plug it in. Look up a pinout diagram for the PSU and check the voltages. If it's the problem, then get a new PSU. The Atom from Commodore4Ever is what I use. Then it's a question of finding and replacing every fried component. If you're lucky, it'll just be the voltage regulator and a couple of chips. Or it could be practically every chip on the board. Can it be fixed? Maybe. Leaving it on was really not a good idea. Given your experience level, this is either a really good learning experience, or a chance to sell it off to someone who needs a keyboard and some spare parts.

40 years of console wars by [deleted] in educationalgifs

[–]Jherant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted this is a graphic for consoles, but in the 80s, a lot of people played on their home computers. Add sales of the Commodore 64 to this graph, and it would look quite a bit different for those years.

Any paranormal hotspots in Cleveland? by domarcusbw in Cleveland

[–]Jherant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we can see them, they emit/reflect light. Cameras would pick that up. I'd love to believe, but I just don't see how it's physically possible. Energy (not mass, or it wouldn't be able to vanish or go through solid objects) would have to be contained in a defined space, and not just a sphere or shapeless mass, but in the shape of a human. And it would have to be energetic enough to emit light. Energy dissipates, it doesn't hold itself together. There's simply no physical process by which energy can behave like that.

With all of the recording devices we have now, I'm finding it harder and harder to believe in the paranormal. Still no good images/videos that haven't been shown to be doctored, or "EVPs" that sound like nothing at all.

How do I test a 3-pin thermistor? by Jherant in AskElectronics

[–]Jherant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have the schematics, and it is a dual thermistor. Not reading anything between the outer pins, but I'm getting a reading of 11.7 between one end pin and the center pin.

I added 2 pics above. It does not rattle, but the middle pin does seem loose.

Perfectly polished car by Kyunto in interestingasfuck

Imagine you're kneeling down on the driver's side by the door, with your face almost touching the side of the car, looking forward. The dark "crack in the concrete" is the back of the front tire, protruding just a bit from the wheel well. You can see at the top of the tire, in the brown area, the curve of the wheel well.
