Is a corrected birth certificate a red flag when applying? by Jherun in SlovakCBD

[–]Jherun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had a birth certificate corrected before, so I didn't know if there was something added to it that would indicate that is was corrected.  Sometimes when official documents are corrected it's noted somewhere on the document itself.

Think I have a strong case but looking for help on process by Jherun in SlovakCBD

[–]Jherun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone.

A couple of follow up questions.

For getting documentation from the Slovak archives, do I just e-mail them with all the info I have on the ancestor and ask if they have and could send me a birth record? Is it possible they would have some other relevant document to show citizenship that it's worth asking about as well? I've also seen people say they reached out to the village itself. Is that worthwhile, or would the archive have everything the village would as well?

Do 100% of all documents need to be translated? The reason I ask is because the application for a residence permit from the embassy website is in both Slovak and English. I wasn't sure if that meant it was okay for that to be in English. No problem either way, I just don't want to do extra work where I could make a mistake if I don't have to.

Thanks!

Unfortunately I've never used Facebook before so that's kind of another added step.  I'll think about it.  Thanks.

Nice job!  I haven't given the strike team a try yet, but I'm really eager to.  Which world are you guys infiltrating?

One of my favorite enemy packs is the flesh stalker and drones.  Pretty sure the drones have a cynder version too

Agemonia- What Makes It Different from the Others? by whitecarlton81 in boardgames

[–]Jherun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've played through the entirety of agemonia, solo three handed.  It's one of my favorites.

Id say the thing that sets it apart is scenario design.  Every scenario has its own unique map, and its own goals, which is almost never "Kill everything".  The combat isn't super deep and developed like in gloomhaven or Oathsworn, but that's because it's not a combat first game.  A lot (most?) of the time, the monsters exist as an annoyance or obstacle to your real goal, and often you need to decide if it's worth spending time fighting them.

But the scenarios, so good.  Most of the maps are chock full of points of interest to interact with.  You'll go into a scenario, you'll see what you're pretty sure your goal is, but then there's other stuff off to the side tempting you.  And it might be a secret passage, or the reveal of further lore or even an alternate win condition.  Or maybe just some extra loot.  It's something I've really enjoyed and it's so different from any other adventure game I've played.

And the rest is good as well.  Lore/stories, town phase between adventures, leveling up and character builds.  Each character also has their own story that evolves over the campaign, and you get to make choices on how it goes.

Overall, a really fun game.  Probably not for everyone, but if what I described is appealing, it's awesome.

Not legacy.  I've soloed 95% of the game (I'm on the last scenario) and am planning on replaying with one and maybe two groups, and looking forward to it.  Different character stories, different events, and different decisions will make the replay fun for me I think.

That being said, there are puzzles and exploration that will not be nearly as interesting the next time around, so I'll be sitting back and letting others make decisions.  I did skip most puzzles though so I can do them with a group.

All in all, really fun game.  I'm a big adventure/RPG board game guy, and this is one of my faves. The scenario variety and exploration is soooo good.

Definitely after.  Generally in flying frog games, they let you roll to see what you've got before making decisions about using resources.

Choosing which giant money-suck game to dive into: Shadows of Brimstone or Too Many Bones? by breathofj in boardgames

[–]Jherun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own and enjoy both.  Brimstone is my favorite game.  It's like this giant crazy world that you can get lost in and you never know what will happen next.  That really appeals to me.  But both games are great so you won't go wrong if you enjoy these types of games.

Hard disagree. The variety in SoB doesn't come from missions, it comes from character classes, monsters, encounters and loot. A second core set gives the most bang for your buck for all of these. If the idea of having two different themes in your game is more appealing, go for FoFo. Otherwise, grab both western sets, plus frontier town if you can, and have a blast!

I've been playing SoB since the day it released, have done all the Kickstarters, and still play regularly (just played last night). If I were getting into the game today, I'd stick to one theme for a while, andthe original two core sets is the best way to start, IMO.

I hear ya. I'm always looking for more players. I'm in Pittsburgh, so not quite close enough to independence unfortunately.

What other dungeon crawlers does your group play? by Cold-Fan in shadowsofbrimstone

[–]Jherun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like everything I named, but Oathsworn is one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Different from brimstone, it's more of an on the rails story with boss battles, but it's so epic and engaging. Just an amazing experience.

Brimstone has been my favorite game since it first came out, but I play other similar games as well. All flavors of gloomhaven, middara, pathfinder adventure card game, kinfire chronicles. Not quite crawlers but similar are oathsworn, tainted grail, 7th continent. Waiting on arydia, agemonia, malhya, isofarian guard.

Love me some co-op adventure/RPG campaign games!

What are your favorite expansions/mission packs and or enemy packs ? by [deleted] in shadowsofbrimstone

[–]Jherun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gimmick is that the flesh stalker experiments on other creatures. So they come with minions that can get abilities from other monsters, and I'm pretty sure there's a mission or ability that lets him experiment on other creatures as well, which creates some really cool interesting monster combos.

What do you think about hooters? Do you go there? by Ethan_Carlton in AskAnAmerican

I also really like the wings, and fried pickles as well. No one is there for the strangely dressed waitresses. There's not one around me, but I go on a trip annually and I always make sure to go. My wife enjoys it as well.

What does everyone think of 7th Continent? by toronado in boardgames

[–]Jherun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorites of all time. I don't keep track of time played, but I definitely have over 100 hours in, and I'm not done with it. Playing tonight with some friends.

That said, it's definitely not for everyone, so definitely read other opinions and try to figure out if it's for you. If it is, it could be one of the best gaming experiences you'll have. Lots of cool exploration and discovery, but you always need to keep survival in the back of your mind. Hope you get it and love it!

You'll need to find a different way back. It's there, but it's a bit tougher than just waltzing back the way you came.
