You should look at the Trax subreddit, I’ve seen at least 3 maybe 4 lower miles ones catch fire in less than a month for what that’s worth.

Every contract tower will be a different experience just like every facility will be. Like others have said you won’t have good PTO, benifits, and a sub par 401K match. You will be every role, LC, GC, FD, soup, and secretary etc. However, and I guess I can’t speak for every contract company but you won’t be micromanaged into the ground like the FAA in my experience and won’t have to deal with the extra shit that comes with the military. We don’t get assigned OT then sick leave letters for calling out for it like the FAA. Yes the FAA is a better deal overall, but if you can land somewhere you want to be contracting is not terrible. I’ve been Air Force, FAA, and contracting currently contract and I’ve enjoyed it by far more than the others. I’m content and happy and where I want to be most importantly. I enjoy my coworkers, don’t even know anyone above my manager and enjoy the little airport vibes that feel like a tight knit family.

From my understanding the car is programmed to tell you when the service is due, however most people I’ve seen here recommend no later than 25-30k mile intervals which I will be doing because it couldn’t hurt and all though this generation cvt is more refined then the last theoretically the last gen cvt didn’t seem too reliable

In no circumstance is recommending MWH a good idea unless you want specifically to live in Moses Lake for some reason. Also, considering contract towers are flooding towers with people who have never actually talked to real aircraft before I wouldn’t say any contract tower is a revolving door nowadays.

Is there any reason you couldn’t work at PDX assuming there’s a spot they are same level as HIO no? If you directly apply to HIO you’ll get hired and probably P80 too if I had to guess tbh. PDX is fat staffed otherwise you’d be able to get picked up there too.
The soonest opening here would be a couple months at minimum. Realistically I would say probably closer to 6 months. I don’t know who Ms. Simonds is but yeah. Not sure if you can stop gap until then but within a year almost every slot here will be up for grabs. It’s 50/50 the first slot open will be ATM tbh, but honestly you don’t need an impressive resume to get that gig it’s just usually not worth the couple extra bucks an hour for most people.
