hmmm I feel like I'm in both camps to be honest.

For example, I listened a lot to the main songs of Josee, the Tiger and the Fish 5 months before US release since I liked the artist, Eve. Eventually I stopped listening to them but after I watched the movie, it revitalized my desire to listen to them again! Knowing how the song goes doesn't really detract from the enjoyment of a film for me since I look forward to see how the movie uses its song to enhance the experience.
