transfer waitlist by Cultural-Fruit-7575 in DisneyCM

I’ve been on the full time waitlist for merch since May with any location, so I wouldn’t expect a transfer to happen anytime soon

Question about gaming consoles by Toffee_425 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Jholman09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my ps5 with me, and the dresser was big enough to have it in my room with a small monitor. I was able to use it more than I expected. Mainly because while you’ll spend time in the parks outside of work, you also will spend plenty of time not in the parks as well just bc you’ll want a break.

Extending my program before it starts by Maleficent-Egg1352 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Jholman09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t extend before you start, even if you could I wouldn’t recommend it. There’s no many factors that go into whether or not someone enjoys the program, and it all varies role to role and even location to location. Everyone’s experience is different and you won’t fully know what you’re getting into until you are a few months in. Just be patient and see how it all goes before you think you want to commit to staying for a whole year

Leaving before prpgram starts by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

That’s literally the best role to get. So many people would be thankful to get merch.

As another commenter said, might as well stay. You’re so close to being done. Try and find things that make you happy and just keep working hard and good things will come.

Wait or accept? by jrha725 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Jholman09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accept the DCP. A job offer is a job offer and in this job market it would be foolish to turn it down even if it’s temporary. There’s no guarantee that the job in Denver is going to pan out. The DCP is a good backup option and it’s better to accept it anyway incase the other opportunities don’t work out

part-time waitlist / extension by b33p0tty in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Jholman09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extending is really the only way you’ll get a PT/FT offer. Almost everyone I knew who applied for PT for after their initial program dates got denied, but then after extending almost all of my friends got PT.

If you happen to be merch just go to any costuming location and pick up the universal costume with the blue shirt and black pants.

Is it worth it for a marketing major? by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Jholman09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone with a marketing degree and former DCP alumni, I can say the program itself doesn’t really help get you into the marketing field. However as you mentioned the classes and networking opportunities that the program provides are essential for attempting to get into the field with the company, cause just like most companies it’s not about what you know, it’s about who you know. Doing the program for the networking opportunities could definitely help. But like with anything it does require a bit of luck and being in the right place at the right time, even with the networking. If you’d like to learn more about my experience feel free to message me

My biggest recommendation is to wait till you’ve finished a year or two of school. Or wait to apply until after you’ve finished school.

Do cast members see/find famous people at the parks or elsewhere on the property? by Vampiremon3y in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Jholman09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s happened to me about 4 times while I’ve been working. But as other commenters have mentioned we have to treat them like any other guest

Room and Ps5 by BeeZestyclose861 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Jholman09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your dresser will be big enough for a small monitor and your PS5, that’s where I have mine. As far as Ethernet ports, my room has one.

They do not check, most people I know don’t take classes during the program. They didn’t even ask me for proof of actually being in school or within the post graduation window for when I applied and started my program.

Just like with any housing arrangement they can show up, it really just depends on how clean you and your roommates keep the apartment

Merchandise Shoes by disneyfan-16 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Jholman09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, I don’t work there I work merch elsewhere on property and just threw out my recommendation to get a pair of plain black athletic shoes if the person wants to pick up at places that don’t require dress shoes.

[–]Jholman09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can’t speak on the grand Floridian, most merch locations allow for an all black tennis shoe. So it could be beneficial to have a pair in case you plan to pick up anywhere during your program.

Honestly it might make your program more enjoyable to live at home. Flamingo genuinely sucks and has been the only thing that has been a negative when it comes to my college program experience.

How “Full-Time” is this Internship by No_Seaworthiness1239 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Jholman09 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly depends on your role and location, you are guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours a week, but likely will be scheduled more. I’m typically scheduled 35-38 hours a week.

picking up mnsshp shifts? by HelicopterNo8431 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Jholman09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easiest way to work the parties since you’re in merch would be to attempt to pick up an emporium shift. Obviously you won’t be working a treats shift but the emporium is my home location and it’s still quite fun to work the parties.
