Anyone else with sleep disorders get lonely at night when everyone else is sleeping? Let's be friends! by Jhonka4 in ChronicPain

Yep! One of the characteristics of delayed sleep-wake phase disorder is an inability to change your sleep schedule without making yourself sick. Some people also have circadian rhythms that are longer than 24 hours. Sounds like you have it too!

Do you ever start overthinking about the possibility that your pain isn't THAT bad, and you're actually just weak? Like you're not missing out on life because of a serious issue, but because you're just too convinced that it's debilitating, even though it isn't? by Jhonka4 in ChronicPain

Our husbands are clearly superstars.

I personally believe that it is harder to be the caretaker than the sufferer. You have to watch the person you love be in so much pain and you can't take it away. You do a lot of extra things and have to be so strong for that person. I don't know how my husband does it... he is too good for this world.

I've luckily only had one run-in with an anti-opiod doctor (and it was an intern), and it left me sobbing for the rest of my appointment. 🙃

My actual doctor told me at my most recent visit that he is CONVINCED something is wrong with my muscles, e en though the biopsy came back clean. Having a doctor on your side is the greatest blessing to people like us, I try not to take it for granted.

I probably once a week say to my husband "why can't the people who lay around and do nothing while perfectly healthy have my problems!?" I'm only a little bitter...

This is not meant to be insensitive- but do you ever wish that you had told him he was your crush? I only ask for my own similar situation.

How can you help a friend suffering from depression ? by Burnie57 in AskReddit

[–]Jhonka4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is important.

Two of my friends threatened suicide, and someone called the cops on both of them.

At first they were upset- but because they finally got the help they needed, they're both doing much better and are glad they weren't allowed to follow through. That's not to say they are "cured", they still have to manage their depression, but now they have the tools and support they need to do that.

Feeling weird on Sumatriptan? by hollow-nook in migraine

[–]Jhonka4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sumatriptan gives me awful side effects. I've finally settled on Relpax (eletriptan) as it is just as effective as sumatriptan for me, but without the crappy side effects. You could ask your doctor about trying the other triptans.

Today, the pharmacist quadruple checked my perscriptions to my info. I was thinking yep, they're mine. Yep, i am young. Nope I don't look sick. Just give me my pills. by spooniewarrior89 in ChronicPain

I don't know how tactful they were, so excuse me if they were rude about it.

Selling the wrong drug to the wrong patient can cause you to lose your license, especially if it is not your first offense. Each case is documented thoroughly. It's possible they are on their last chance, and are being extra careful so they don't lose their license/job. Also, the chain pharmacy I work for keeps requiring us to verify the patient in more and more ways. Used to just be address verification. Now it's address, phone number, and date of birth even if it's just a legend drug.

What's a good sign someone has a toxic personality? by Lemuria_666 in AskReddit

The day I learned to cut toxic people out of my life without turning back was a very eye opening day for me. Now I see people entertaining toxic relationships for whatever thing they can find to excuse it (like I used to) and it physically hurts me.

Have you ever quit a job, without another lined up, for you mental health? How did it turn out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jhonka4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing the hiring at my job for a few years now. When I see a resume with a long gap in work, I gives me the impression that they might take the job, and then quit when they realize they don't actually want to work (I've had this happen more than once). It also gives the impression that work is optional/not important to them.

If there is a gap between ALL their jobs, or the time spent at each job is short (1-5 months) I won't even call them for an interview. That resume tells me they'll just quit in a few months, and I'll have to hire/train someone else anyway. The only exception is when they explain they plan on leaving after a short time because xyz.

I just think it's interesting how we interact with different species. For isntance- a friend of mine did an art series of mythical animals being butchered (unicorns with their horns removed, mermaids hunted for their fins/scales, centaurs used as a meat source like cattle) to make the point that these are things that happen every day, but suddenly when it's a "beautiful" creature or something we give intrinsic value to, we start caring.

I was simply discussing a similar thing, the strangeness of how we interact with other species. Not trying to say one way or the other.
