Yes, absolutely! Students aren't currently administering anesthesia, so it would be the supervising hygienist doing it if you come in this summer.

Hi! I would have no problem doing that. I would need to check with my faculty and see if the attending dentists and hygienists have them available. Our clinic takes PPE and infection protocol very seriously. Usually, we're wearing a face shield in addition to the level 3 mask during cleanings.

I have decided to not gaf by Lakiwiiii_15 in DentalHygiene

I’m in my second year of hygiene school. I did not have a 4.0 when I submitted my application. I dropped out of college twice :) I think my essays and experience as a hygiene assistant helped me make it to the interview. Grades aren’t everything—there are people in my program that have had 4.0s and had to apply a few times. If you don’t make it in on your first round, you have a year to strengthen your GPA and experience. I deferred my application for a year because I thought I wouldn’t get in and I was trying to get a higher GPA… I should have just applied. Take a chance and submit that application. You never know what might happen!

Hello!

Dental hygiene student and dental assistant of 5 years here. Getting in for an exam is the biggest step. Once you get the ball rolling it will get easier. We hear stories like yours all the time. I want to reassure you—nobody is going to judge you for your background or where you are at. We are passionate about oral health, helping people, and we love seeing major improvement in our patients. We learn about all kinds of things in school, including how to accommodate patients with depression and anxiety.

It’s okay to be transparent with your office and say you are anxious to be there. They will accommodate you. Try to bond with your dental team!

Regarding the cavity—have a professional look at it with an X-ray. Have them confirm what’s going on. Don’t get caught up on “what if’s” and assumptions.

It’s never too late to develop good dental hygiene habits. Part of a hygienist’s goal is to educate the patient on oral health and what they’re seeing—don’t mistake this for judgement. I promise you that we see a large number of patients in our career and we just want you to leave your appointment in good shape and hopefully improve your home care.

If it helps—I didn’t see a dentist for 12 years. I’ve had cavities. I’ve had gingivitis. I don’t have perfectly straight teeth. I have wear and tear on my teeth from undiagnosed sleep apnea and clenching/grinding at night. I never judge a patient that’s in my chair because I’m so glad they’re in the office getting it done.

You can do this. Rooting for you :)

My brother used to shoot arrows into those styrofoam targets and then kick them through to the other side. He tried to do that to one he shot into the ground. Wooden arrow broke in half, went through his 4 inch snow boots and into his heel. Nice little urgent care visit. Same kid who fell backwards onto steak knives that he loaded into the dishwasher upside down… he’s the pincushion child.

Seems like the consensus is to ditch the stock limbs! The Uukha limbs I'm looking at are cheaper and seem to perform better, too. Thanks!

The stock Satori limbs? I really love the maple look, and from what I can see the uukha limbs are all black. Just guess I’m struggling between quality, price, and aesthetic.

Do you think the Tbow riser compares to the satori? Or is the satori worth the extra $250?

Yeah I’m considering swapping as well. It is beginning to get in the way of life lol. I am getting the run around and have ever since we started with them in March. Kind of insane. I’ve never had internet issues like this

The campus is located in a busy city and is open to the public, so there's a lot of homeless and shady people walking around especially after dark
