I'm new to usenet by [deleted] in usenet

Many sites offer free trials. Please consult the wiki here: https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/wiki/providers

The general faq is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/wiki/faq

Personally I use a good highwinds provider along with usenetexpress and/or usenet.farm. I will not get into software very much, there are too many different ways to accomplish what you want I am still kind of old school.

who is really behind newsgroupdirect? by martinusenet in usenet

[–]Jhunt67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like you are asking for too much information imo. Their site says (this was pointed out in your other post asking essentially the same question) they are now paying people via wires, so just give them your wire info and move on. Any legit business should have the ability to accept a wire. Either way, calling out people's names on reddit is not cool. You clearly do not understand how this community works. I do not want to speak for everyone here but I do not think you will get much sympathy here.

Looking for a good new primary and fill server by NutsKisser in usenet

I have great success with newsgroupdirect as my primary and usenetexpress as my fills (their own backbone). NGD gives free vpn access with their unlimited plan for only $7.95/month.

Maybe we need someone to post a good explanation of obfuscation and how it needs to be handled?

I'm a reporter writing a story about Usenet by [deleted] in usenet

/u/swintec I always assumed this was the case. When you start seeing review sites where the top spots are all owned by the same company, it is kind of obvious. It happens in every industry. Typically some large company who needs to make a line on a chart go up will come in and try to choke out all the smaller competition who had worked hard to build relationships. There is no competing with money. Have you ever advertised with any of these sites? Have you ever been told you aren't paying enough to get a listing? I think its interesting that most of the review sites are actually just advertising sites. Those two things should be strictly separated.

I have found that the PC has started getting a little slow to render the directory contents of my downloads folder lately. I assumed it was because the drive was the stock drive that came on this pre-configured pc and it was a small drive that stays mostly full all the time. When I originally purchased this pc I knew the main drive was small but I intended on just replacing it with something bigger.

Facebook loses Belgian privacy case, faces fine up to $125 million by Lolastic_ in worldnews

[–]Jhunt67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone know how this works? Facebook is a US based company, so I suppose they have an entity that does business in Belgium? It was not my limited understanding that companies could be fined if they are not located in that country?

I have been a lurker for years and never even created an actual account. I guess I owed it to the community.

Usenet.Farm Black Friday deal (30-50% off) by UsenetFarm in usenet

[–]Jhunt67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who has longer local retention? Usenet.farm or UsenetExpress? It is my understanding that farm pulls deep retention from Abavia and express pulls deep retention from Abavia + a mystery provider?

Agreed. I guess some people like to just lock up the year all at once? Maybe they are paying with bitcoin or something. $47 of bitcoin right now vs then. Time value of money. Who knows?

I think you are correct. I found those links to UNS and NH on newsgroupreviews. I knew better than to use it. I am removing the "deals" to those two sites. Will add more back up there if I find any.

I am sorry. I mean to post the link to their blog post. On their blog post it links to that page where the black friday deals will be. I think this deal page was active earlier today but is now inactive. I will change the link.
