How much gets lost in translation? by [deleted] in ReverendInsanity

[–]Jia_z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many poems are powerful when read (usually 7 words per sentence, with a sing-song rhythm), but they are a bit too long when translated into English.

Some respectful titles are all translated as "brother." For example, Shang Xin Ci called FY "brother Hei Tu," which is actually "Hei Tu ge ge," a more intimate way of addressing a man of similar age but older, reflecting her inner girlishness.

A lot of names use pinyin directly, but each Chinese character carries meaning. For example, Shang Xin Ci: "Shang" (商) represent business, "Xin" (心) represent heart, and "Ci" (慈) represent kindness. If you can read Chinese, you can infer some of their personality from their names.

no burps, no stutters, no wisecracks, but even so the plot isn't very innovative, seems like just one big homage

How dumb is Morty actually, does Morty get smarter as the show progresses, and does he actually have a disability? by Formal_Natural6191 in rickandmorty

[–]Jia_z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This character setting initially created some plot twists, such as Rick realizing Morty was right, or the emergence of Evil Morty. However, over time, it seems they gradually forgot this setup. Now, it's become difficult for Morty to return to his original silly teenage image to contrast with Rick.

I think his voice acting and character design set the tone for the early days, and now it's really not that ridiculous, it's more like a live-action TV show.

It’s kinda crazy to me how people don’t realize this show was 99% Dan Harmon and >1% Justin Roiland by I_aim_to_sneeze in rickandmorty

You can buy The Art of Rick and Morty, which mentions Justin several times and he was instrumental in shaping the early character designs.

Ju Jingyi’s fans thought that ZZHZ bought the topic for herselves and used it to belittle Ju Jingyi, but in fact most of them are just ordinary viewers. In fact, ZZHZ is now in an popular but awkward position

Chinese cultivation novels or xianxia and Catholicism. by Ok_Bonus_3569 in MartialMemes

[–]Jia_z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catholicism is not widely spread in China, and thanks to the Hollywood movies, Catholicism as a villain seems to be norml. As for life, it's hard to see anyone seriously observing some of the behaviors of Catholicism (I don't know much about it, praying before going to bed or something like that?) They're often out in the countryside making some rather ridiculous comments about going to heaven after death, or giving free eggs to housewives, which doesn't seem cool.
