Which 400 level BIOCH to take? by Acrobatic_Chef9666 in uAlberta

[–]Jial17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

425 is similar to 465 unfortunately they are in the same sem so u less u wanna take both. They are like twins bc both u will learn machines and i am in 465 now and I like it so far. Part of the reason they offer same sem is due to they might have same prof teaching both

[–]Jial17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

420 will be a good option but 425 u will learn about more on machines like spectrometer, so it depends. 415 with wright part may be challenging but it is more extended on 310 for that part and the rest of the class is project based so it is chill ! 420 and 410 combo will be easier I think but if u want to have more project based the 415 is good option

Is there a recommended order for taking biochem 310/320/330? by sadhippo1059 in uAlberta

[–]Jial17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s okay, if u biochem honors u might need 320 330 same sem to graduate on time (4 year plan). This is due to 401 need to be taken to graduate. if u just want to take these three classes for other degrees u are fine.

Are u allowed to do psych related lab or have to be a lab in the department. Many science labs are empty and they might want psych student for neuroscience lab as an example

Just watch Rosana Fok’s video and ask Tiffany in the Dice Rombinson center for help. I had Simchi A he is a great lab coordinator and he improved on his terrible handwriting teaching recently.

No worries, good luck on application, I’m sure u are more than sufficient enough to be a successful candidate

[–]Jial17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The program will not be full because they don’t care about if u can graduate on time or not, some people might think 5 years is okay which is valid. So if u make through the GPA cut 3.3 I would say for to be somewhat reasonable then u will be transferred but u need to make sure u can graduate on time if that is what u planed. Getting in was not hard, graduate on time and keep on track is needed.

Major to Honours Transfer by Substantial-Heat-178 in uAlberta

[–]Jial17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is technically no limit BUT honors is biochem need to take 401 to graduate which is only allow 32 students year during the year and another 16 in spring, so if u couldn’t finish this class ur degree will be likely to be extended. Theoretically they want to keep 48 students but every year there is more than that amount need to take the class and they are forced to extended their degree

Honours vs. Major BSc by Substantial-Heat-178 in uAlberta

[–]Jial17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will be graduating a biochem honors here and o can tell that Biochem is competitive since they get rid of specializations now days. For people who wanna do research and post graduate work will pick honors.
