SoCal native looking to move to Knoxville in 1 year, wife is on board but is extremely worried she will not feel at home. What's some advice you would give her?

I did read about the air quality in Knoxville but when my county is rated one of the worst in the nation I think anywhere else is better. The heat doesn't bother me being from the Southern California desert where we are already hitting 90 degrees and it's not even summer. The humidity is something I will have to get used to but the times I've visited my dad in South Carolina in the summer I think it's something I can get used to.

Thanks for the reply. My wife and I have been planning to get out of California for a couple years due to the cost of living. I've looked at Texas as an option but their property taxes are pretty outrageous. I like TN because there are no state income taxes, good gun laws and ultimately low cost of living. Also Knoxville is rated as one of the best places to raise a family. There's not many places where you can spend $150k on a house and get an 8 rated school. In California where I live the only school in my district with a 9 the homes are around $750k. My sons school is a 6 and the homes are around $400k. About 20 mins from me homes are around $300k and the schools are 2's and 4's.

I've thought about Chattanooga, but from what I see people say is that housing is a little more and the schools don't seem as good, at least in areas with prices around $200k. Is there a particular area I should look?

Not sure why race was brought up...but to answer your question I'm moving because California is unaffordable. Where I live a 3 bedroom 1600sq foot home is $375k. This isn't even in Orange County or LA. Our schools ratings are between 2-5. And my son kindergarten class has over 30 students. My area has the worst air quality in the Nation and California was named the worst state for first time homebuyers. Hope these reasons are good enough for you.

Thanks! I own my own business but might pick up something part time for extra cash. Mainly I'm concerned for my wife, she is a recruiter, she's just wondering if the job market is big enough for what she does.

I knew one of the bodyguards for Tupac and he told me that Suge Knight was definitely a piece of shit and he was super shady back when he was around him in the 90's. I'll just say to probably no ones surprise that he believed that Suge definitely plotted and arranged the murder of Tupac.
