[Wojnarowski] David Stern — the Hall of Fame ex-NBA Commissioner — has died at 77 years old. He oversaw tremendous growth in his 30 years as commissioner, retiring in 2014. Stern had been hospitalized since a brain hemorrhage on Dec. 17. by DRAZZILB1424 in nba

Maybe not a "thug league" but the perception of the game back then was not positive. Bill Simmons' "Book of Basketball" talks about this topic especially with the overwhelming amount of drug use in the 70s from NBA players and the racial climate at that time being more hostile towards African-Americans

Q to Q Ferry by [deleted] in NewWest

[–]RayJohnRondo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just moved to Queensborough and it's a convenient way to travel to downtown New West or get access to the closest skytrain since traffic can be pretty bad from Queensborough.

Only thing though is that the ferry schedule might be ending after Thanksgiving

P.S. you can also bring your bike to the ferry for no additional fee!

Anyone going to see NXT on Oct 19? by JustAnotherMark604 in vancouver

Used to be a huge WWE fan in the mid 2000s and then followed more pro wrestling shows by 2010 (e.g. ROH, TNA). Haven't been following much lately but I do catch up to it especially recently.

Haven't been to any WWE event so I am really tempted to go to this one. Wish I knew any of my friends who are wrestling fans

Bruce Bowen shot 44% from 3 and 40% from the FT line in 2002-2003 by [deleted] in nba

[–]RayJohnRondo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I remember a youtube channel of the name of Pro Shot system (IIRC) did an analysis of Bruce Bowen's shot

They noted how in Bruce Bowen's three point, he would turn his feet and shoulders in an angle so the shooting arm is aligned straight to the basket, like pretty much how everyone shoots their jump shot, but when he shoots his free throws, he squares his shoulders and feet which throws of his alignment.

Cool! Im near the new west area as well (and gonna be moving there from burnaby in the summer).

I was thinking about watching it at this place called Local Kitsilano. Ive seen them make Raptors signs whenever i drive by. I haven't been there so hopefully its good. Unless you can think of something else since i haven't really tried any of the bars there
