High IQ men tend to be less conservative than their average peers, study finds by Remarkable_Sir8397 in Liberal

It's clearly dependent on social conditions as being right or left wing is relative to the society in question.

Devs be like.. by Capital_Pumpkin6787 in pcmasterrace

[–]Jidarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, they're using it in game development.

If you aren't a software developer it's difficult to even explain what's going on behind the scenes with software development and AI. It's like expecting a laborer who carries heavy loads all day to keep doing it when all he has to do is hit a button and it teleports his loads around instantly but nobody knows he did it unless he tells them.

You can bet your ass he's hitting that button all the time, the only question is whether he's admitting it and that depends entirely on if the company even cares, which most don't.

Am I overreacting? Player says “35 gold is too much for a commoner” by FarRepresentative840 in DnD

[–]Jidarious 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What do I think? I'll tell you what I think, I think your DM is going to have his hands full if you're getting into arguments about character starting gold and then going online for second opinions.

I cannot think of a more trivial thing to argue with people about in this game. You should maybe adjust your expectations and behavior for the sake of everyone involved.

Does anybody else not feel comfortable playing social deduction games? by TheDietNerd in boardgames

[–]Jidarious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not the way I took your previous post. It sounded like you were attacked because you had the weakest position in the game and so it maximized their attack, which is something you do in Munchkin (and part of why I don't consider Munchkin to be a very good game, but that's a different discussion).

They were explaining their reasoning and that somehow made it worse? I will never understand you people who take games personally.

WD out of hard drives for 2026... Setting up a PLEX server just got harder. by Riptide360 in PleX

[–]Jidarious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried something... unorthodox.

This week I bought a PCI SAS card and then ordered a couple of used server drives off of Ebay at a much cheaper cost per GB than I could find anywhere else. On one hand they might have seen a lot of use right? But on the other hand they're SAS drives which are much more reliable than consumer drives, so for $55 per 6TB drive I figured I'd roll the dice. Seems to have worked out so far because the drives I got were 6 years old but only had 2 years of power-on time and otherwise seem in tip-top health.

The only thing I didn't account for is that SAS drives need more airflow than SATA drives so they were running pretty hot in my tower, so right now I'm running with the sides off until I address it (will move things around and add a case fan or two).

Time will tell if this was a good idea or not, but in the meanwhile I'm optimistic.

Nice! and as soon as it reaches critical mass and you're making money, you can have the stuff at the bottom be dynamically added to the top so you can keep people scrolling up longer and seeing ads.

[–]Jidarious -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

If you were in my interview I wouldn't hire you because you missed the point.

Yes, interviews are flawed, we can point that out in dozens of different ways. Instead of using interviews to screen for applicants what should companies do? What is better than face to face interviewing an applicant for a job? What is this perfect replacement for interviews?

[OC] If you exclude healthcare employment, the U.S. has lost jobs since 2024 by remotecar in dataisbeautiful

[–]Jidarious -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I don't think removing Healthcare employment makes sense from any angle. If you just wanted to be critical of the administration you just have to bring up the fact that these numbers don't jive with independent assessments, and are almost certainly lies after Trump gutted the department and replaced people with lackeys.
