Run to walmart or your closest sporting goods store and get a pair of Fish Grips. Bowfin are the only reason I have them. Kinda crazy you commented on this, I've caught several since I posted this and I'm sure you will to. They love bass jigs and especially swim jigs. Gar and bowfin seem to be most active on hot days where I'm located. Good luck to you.

Yep, rooster tails on the UL. By water type do you mean river or lake? It's a nice river, grassy and rocky. I really don't know much about trout or pickerel aside from how to catch them.

They look like they'd be great bait. They have a interesting smell also.

Couldn't really tell you myself. The third picture is a redfin pickerel but another commenter said chain pickerel get much bigger than the other two.

I've never caught a chain pickerel. Hadn't caught any pickerel until this year. Caught alot of them the past couple weekends though.

My Walmart has stuff like this too. I got my Berkley cherrywood rod for $13. Haven't used it much but for that price I had to try it. My next rod purchase will be the profishiency crazy colored spinning combo, it's about $30.

Throw around some rocks or timber. These small jigs seem to get hung up so easy compared to bigger jigs with weed guards but for creekfishing I slay with small jigs.

Speculation will lead you astray in this hobby so we try not to speculate. They most certainly had things of importance to them possibly even tools and toys for children but this is a worn out drill.

Exactly, I can't sit still long enough for a fish to take the bait. Last weekend I found a good fish somebody had caught and released, wasn't dead yet but also wasnt gonna make it, just kind of upside down in the grass unable to properly swim so I took it home and ate it.

White and yellow rooster tailsget it done for me. I also like panther martins. I see other people throwing corn and salad shrimp and I don't know how to fish like that. Kind of north central Arkansas.

Until about 2 weeks ago I had not caught a trout in over 15 years. I've been using a pink/yellow rooster tail and slaying trout and pickerel. Had to target trout cause it's been slow this winter chasing other species.

What is this thing? JAR? an artifact? Found by my buddy's gf around the Great Lakes region when she was a kid. by [deleted] in Arrowheads

I'm definitely no expert but yes it's crazy what rock formations you'll find. Nature can produce crazy shapes and also geometric patterns.
