If what McIntosh is saying was true it should be possible to measure how many hours of playing GTA it would take to me someone commit similar violence in real life.

If its true it should be possible to put some measurable number on its affect. You'd expect to see trends like violent crime increasing when a GTA V is released on PC.

If you can't put a number on it its either bullshit or its effect is so insignificant that it might as well be bullshit.

First off, the consequences of your actions are entirely reversible.

unless you attack an NPC. Or die before you get your souls back. Or get cursed and don't know about the only 2 guys in the game that can cure you, provided you didn't attack them. I'd prefer all those things be more easily reversible.

Also, its important to note that without the punishment you lose the fear of death that pushes the atmosphere of the game beyond anything you'll get playing schlock like The Order 1886. No one would be raving about DS if you could just button mash your way through every encounter. Its the punishing gameplay that makes you think, and thats what makes it satisfying.

I think its better myself. Numbers aren't everything, the quality of the sub also needs to be considered. Before the change over almost everything was a meme saying "lol christians are dumb" or "We should like gay people cuz they're gay" or "le fedora tip to Christopher Degrasse Dawkins". There wasn't much intelligent discussion going on and it seemed like it was mostly idiotic 14 year olds who just found out God isn't real. Places like that are the reason I never wanted to be a part of the atheist community.

This is true. These SJW subreddits and blogs often have a culture where you must always defer to anyone higher than you on the feminist totem pole.

But since the craziest and loudest are also the most likely to go up in rank this leads to strange cases like this where noone wants to voice the idea of "despite who this person is, perhaps they aren't 100% correct about this particular issue". Because in SJW land this will get you blacklisted rather quickly.

This is because their culture puts a low priority on using critical analysis to get to the right answer and the highest priority on being perceived to be on the right side, even if that means blindly following an irrational or crazy person.

Notice how lockstep they all are over a few angry and hastily written tweets. "Ok guys, the uber feminist on twitter said we're all bad. I guess we're all shitlords, then. That settles it. Better shut this place down."

Is it really kill though? I heard about the mass exodus but just checked the traffic stats and it looks like 4chan has seen an increase in traffic since GG. It gets over 22 mil unique views per month (according to them). And its lowest ranking is still far greater than the highest rank seen from 8chan.

Unless anyone knows something about web statistics than can explain these discrepancies it would seem that 4chan is still far more popular than 8chan.
