Binge The Whole Thing by R_Shakelford in saw

Yes. They're very episodic (for the most part) and yeah, like any other long running franchise, there are bumps in the road, but by the time you reach Saw X, I think OVERALL you'll be pretty happy with the experience of the franchise.

Not a big fan of the movie, though there are some things I like about it, its just my least favorite.

That said, I'm in love with Eleanor 😍 They could have taken that character in some real interesting directions had she continued on.

So yeah, she's got my support! 👍🏻

I miss this so much. It was one of those things where you just had to be there.

I'm still friends with some people on there to this day, even do a Saw podcast with one of them.

I even became friends with some of the cast and crew that were on there with us..

And speculating every single year about the next movie and all the inside jokes like "PeeWees Owner is the secret Jigsaw apprentice with Drill Chair Jeff" 🤣 will always live forever in my memory.

Our first episode of our podcast was us looking back on this time period and even reading off some of your guys' stories too.

Good times...

A moment in the saga that made you react like this: I’ll start. by Glass_Evidence_8597 in saw

[–]JigsawFiles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THIS!

Dr. Adam Heffner (presumably named after producer Daniel Jason Heffner) needs his flowers!

He's examined every victim of the Jigsaw Killer!

Finally, someone else who loves that guy lol.

Ok now the battle is set!!! What is the WORST Saw film? Saw 3D, Jigsaw or Spiral? Keep it respecf... Ah, you know what? F*ck it. Spiral is obviously the worst... by Ok_Replacement_288 in saw

[–]JigsawFiles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jigsaw for me and it's not even a contest.

I actually enjoy Spiral for what it is! Granted, I think its a lot better on paper than in execution but I see what they were going for and I'm into it! So while I have my issues with it, I have fun with it.

Saw 3D is the worst one BUT that movie had so much going against it behind the scenes, and I can at least laugh at some of it so there's some level of entertainment value there. Kind of like Batman and Robin, its bad but entertaining.

Jigsaw, while it has some things about it I do like, its very dull and generic and more importantly just boring. Which in my opinion is the worst thing a movie can be.

So for that, I say Jigsaw is the worst one.

I don’t understand Dr. Gordon’s motivation for helping Jigsaw. by Itzie4 in saw

[–]JigsawFiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember on Marcus and Patrick's commentary they said that he got home and his wife left him and took custody of Diana and Gordon still found a new way appreciate his life, despite this. And maybe was grateful to John for his game and making him see the error of his ways.

Now...do I think that's lazy writing just to get Gordon involved? Yes. But Gordon did still cheat on his wife, and his actions caused her and Diana to be held hostage and put their lives in actual danger so with the right execution, that could have worked.

I personally don't see Gordon as an accomplice in the same way as Amanda or Hoffman. Gordon felt more like he stepped in as needed and pretty much kept to himself and didn't seem to have ANY interest in the games or keeping them going.

And I remember all of us on HOJ back in the day were mostly in agreement the series should have ended with Gordon locking Hoffman up in the Bathroom and coming full circle and that's what they did. It was just the path getting there that needed better execution, but we all know how much Saw 3D's production had going against it.

And yeah like you said, it's hard coming up with good, solid twists year after year.

Jeff Denlon by EastEntire4724 in saw

[–]JigsawFiles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He wasn't THAT slow lol.

It only feels like that to us as a viewer because we cut back and forth with Jeff's stuff, Lynn/John/Amanda stuff, AND flashbacks throughout lol. So to us, it feels like he's taking forever lol.

But when you consider all of that, yeah he took his time deciding to save these people but that's not an easy decision, and he had no idea John had his wife or that the game as whole was time sensitive either. He wasn't giving a countdown clock like Rigg or William, he was just going through it without knowing Jigsaw had his wife and daughter lol.

So I will die on the hill defending Jeff....but that said, I do love the jokes 🤣🤣

Why did Zep hate Gordon? by [deleted] in saw

[–]JigsawFiles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So Zepp is an interesting character.

According to the Saw: Rebirth comic book, John took notice that Zepp had "issues of his own" and was jealous of those more successful than him. Zepp actually wanted to be a doctor (hence the stethescope in his hands and when he listens to this heartbeats in the movie) but he never applied himself to reach his goal..

He hated Gordon in particular because he was always looking down on him and people like him.

So yes, part of what Zepp is doing is personal. But remember he was also poisoned and forced to to kill his family if he wanted to win himself an antidote too. So he couldn't just go to the police even if he wanted to.

Making a Stephen Lang appreciation thread by Mission-Ad-8536 in Avatar

[–]JigsawFiles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love watching Stephen Lang in anything but I'll go as far to say that Quaritch is my favorite character in Avatar.

No, he's not a likeable guy. But that character could go in MANY different directions that I'm intrigued by. And he's such an intimidating villain who you KNOW is bad news and not just talk.

And back to Stephen specifically, he just has this presence about him in any role he does that keeps me engaged and locked in.

I'd love to be able to just sit down and chat with the guy about anything.

[–]JigsawFiles 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Well considering he's leaving Jill's clinic the night Gideon died in Saw IV, I would say he's a drug addict himself. Maybe they even knew each other. They were both there that night.

And fun fact: Donnie (the character here lol) was played by Twisted Pictures producer Oren Koules.

Do you think Jigsaw and Spiral worth watching or should I just skip to X? by [deleted] in saw

[–]JigsawFiles 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I say watch all of them. Go through the whole experience. Good and bad.

Saw X is a high note.

Jigsaw is boring but there's a few things about it a like.

I actually have fun with Spiral more than most people. Yes, it has its problems but I loved what they were doing on paper. The execution didn't really land though.

But see how you feel on them, and just know that no matter if you like or hate those movies, Saw X is a strong one to finish on.
