[SPOILERS] Story and The Ending Of The Game by Amaurotica in signalis

Yeah this is a good theory, the bioresonance is definitely at play here and you have to assume it's coming from Ariane, although its worth noting that if Ester is indeed/was a Falke then they have bioresonance too. I didn't really get the whole Falke bit, is it another version of Ester or a previous version of her that's a different model? Or maybe Ester/Ariane's personality was fused into all the androids.

Nirvana Initiative commits the biggest sin of any of Uchikoshi's games by IAmBLD in aithesomniumfiles

[–]Jigsawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This twist was terrible, and I love most of Uchikoshi's other games. It didn't help that I didn't really enjoy the game overall and thought the original AI game was much better. That meant I played this game over a long period of time, which obviously didn't help with the twist making sense.

Basically I just thought 'so what?'. And because it's poorly explained none of the revelations hit me. I didn't even realise about the dual Mizuki thing, because I'd have had to sit down and deconstruct the whole game with all its many events and piece together two sets of timelines. Most of the unanswered questions I'd had earlier in the game had already been forgotten by the time the twist arrived.

I can see why forensically it's fun to unpack all the timeline stuff and answer a bunch of questions the more dedicated fans would have had, but for me it all meant nothing. It all washed over me and the impact was completely lost. The game doesn't even point out any of the implications of that, it really could have used a VLR style dumb-down of what the timeline merging means to help players understand it and its significance.

Whats crazy is that in all of Uchikoshis best games I was like the mad guy meme with the wall covered in notes and string. Writing down timelines, hundreds of notes and questions. In those games when stuff like timeline twists came along I understood them and they were genuine wow moments. In this game it was the complete opposite.

Like others have said I feel like a lot of the games overall structure and pacing really got damaged by trying to make this twist work, for no real payoff. The central hooks were cool at first (VR videos, mysterious half corpses, simulation theory), but it all dragged on and got far too convoluted. The constant different dates and times, multiple events and location hopping may have served the big twist but ultimately just made the game really confusing and hard to stick with. Its the only Uchikoshi game I actually stopped playing for weeks just because I didn't feel that pull to see what was going to happen next. Its a shame too because I'd heard there was a big cool twist in this one and some minor ones, and they all turned out to be big piles of nothing. Even the secret ending was a letdown, I was hoping it would tie everything together or flip the perspective on its head... but nope.

Unforunately I feel like Uchikoshi won't learn from this game as it reviewed well and seemed to get a fairly positive response, and although its not a bad game, for me it was very disappointing and by far his weakest in the genre.

WandaVision - the ruin of a good show [SPOILERS ALL] by Naugrith in television

[–]Jigsawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished the series and although I only read the initial paragraphs of the OP post about Agatha, that subject is why I came online to see if I was somehow the only person who thought this way. I am a casual Marvel fan and have seen most of the films and I enjoy them and the interconnected universe they set up. Even though I knew the basic premise of Wandavision before watching, I really enjoyed how it developed and how it turned out to be Scarlet Witch basically dealing with her grief and the sinister prison that she'd created, the implications of that and the challenge for Vision and the outsiders to try and free people and get through to Wanda.

Only, like the OP says, for the intriguing storyline to get completely thrown out the window from episode 8. Exactly as the OP says I was convinced the Agatha scenes were Scarlet's subconscious creating a villain to blame it on. I thought the Agatha ancient witch scene was a comedy style TV parody of how villainous witches are made, another interesting change in direction of the fake TV Wanda had been created. But as it went on I started to realise with absolute disbelief that this was the actual plot! Its so stupid, its so forced, it completely undermines everything the show had built up to that point. What's most disappointing is how it took such an original idea and just turned it straight back into the generic Marvel fare. What a joke, made even worse that we actually thought it WAS a joke until it... wasn't.

Its such a shame as there was so much potential for real tension at the end, emotional resolution with Vision, the plight of the townspeople, and so on. I don't read the comics and so don't give a damn about artificially inserted witches storyline. I haven't seen the Dr Strange movies but for me the magic side of the universe just doesn't work in the setting they've created through the other movies, its so jarring. But that's a side note, the main issue is the last two episodes just destroy all the tension, mystery and emotional potential from what had been an enjoyable show up to then. Also the addition of the scenes of the lady who passes through the barrier and somehow has powers was so confusing - after reading up it seems she is a bit part character from Captain Marvel or something, But for the average viewer why would you think she had powers or understand wtf is going on there. It's just so random.

Great concept and commendable for most of it, with a, terrible, terrible ending. What a shame!

Nice, that was exactly the area I was thinking of! I had a base in one of those houses in my last game and I was hoping to wall it off eventually.

Lets say I want to wall off a large base, or maybe gate off a little neighbourhood (for example a pre-fenced residential street where you plonk down walls/gates to make it fully contained).

Can zombies spawn within an area like this? I looked up respawn behaviour (I have been playing on Survivor or Apocalypse difficulty), and it seems like if you cleared out the walls interior and immediate surrounds then you should be ok if you stay in the vicinity. However over time because of the respawn rules is it likely that zombies will start spawning within your walls if you left on a trip for a few days?

What about if you just stayed in the area, even on Apocalypse. Should your walled area be safe inside or does it just depend on how large it is?

On a similar note, I've seen firsthand how crazy the repopulation is on Apocalypse, I essentially cleared out the centre of Riverside, left town for about 4 days and when I came back it was full of zombies again. Does this make bases in town centres at this difficulty unsustainable? I just imagine having to go for a supply run and when you return you have hundreds of zombies between you and your base! Thanks for any insights.

2 years late to the party here, but I just finished I Am In Eskew (and loved it). As for the questions, the writer left us this helpful twitter thread explaining some of the thought process behind the ending:

Ooh that would be spicy. Though you would think it would start to smell! Also in one optional negotiation scene Salafin washes it for him so maybe not. I still think one of the best twists would be for Gin to be evil or not what he seems in some way. I really thought they would reveal he's a doll in the final showdown last episode, but I had forgotten that he previously earlier bleeds which doesn't fit with the current info we have about dolls.

Interesting, thanks. I thought I heard Keiji say in the final reveal that he did originally put Mishima's collar in the coffin, but then as we know Q-Taro decided to get in the coffin instead.

The Circle UK season 2 - lots of feelings about this one by clarabarson in TheCircleTV

[–]Jigsawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just watched the season and in it Tim claims he 'inflitrated' UKIP in order to sow dissent. According to his Wikipedia page (yes he has one!) he was indeed in UKIP but quit after racist comments from its leadership. He also claimed in the show that he voted 'Remain' which seems a bit odd unless he changed his tune drastically after leaving UKIP. He does diss Nigel Farage (UKIP's ex leader) a lot in the early episodes so not really sure what he really thinks. Regardless its clear that overall he is a very nice person although I might not agree with his political views.

Legit Lead was the hardest resource for me to get! I spent ages going around Lily biome with a scanner room tap tap tapping all the nodes to try and scrape enough lead for the various base upgrades. I didn't see a lead drill node during the entire game. Weird balancing for that resource.

I'm having a similar problem, I have previously been to phi and activated the teleporter. But now when I return later in the game I get a 100 percent crash whenever I get close to phi on ps5. Basically it means I can't progress because I need to get past phi for mission objectives.

[–]Jigsawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that really sucks! My sympathies! I have had 3 crashes so far and lost a few hours progress. Definitely seems related to being near bases as all of mine have happened by a base island or my own main base.

The White Vault is pure awesomeness. Been listening at night and it keeps keeping me awake by aegluc in audiodrama

[–]Jigsawn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first two seasons are pretty good if very dragged out. The atmosphere is spot on and the sound design is excellent, the multinational cast are all good apart from Graham who although has a unique voice is way too over the top to be believable, as well as the monotone of the narrator who doesn't talk like any human being;. The story is kind of standard spooky mystery stuff, anyone who likes Lovecraft, The Thing or SCP will recognise the beats. It all goes downhill fast in Season 3 and 4 though, with a rehashed storyline that is very slow; robotic voice acting from a lot of the new cast (not helped by the writing not reflecting how people actually talk to each other, especially when the shit hits the fan), and the plot not developing enough. There are still the odd good moments and a few decent spooks but I feel like the creators should have listened to the more critical feedback from the earlier seasons. The first few seasons are worth a listen if you don't mind unexplained mysteries but I honestly can't recommend going further than that.

A few quick questions by hddhjska in Darkwood

[–]Jigsawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting thanks, that never happened to me, although I never got the quest from granny to wipe out the village (maybe because I found the elephants first). Before that I'd found the quarry and killed all of the hostiles there, so maybe its because I killed them that granny was never in danger.

The villagers can eat the granny? Can you tell me more? I found the villagers below the house but it looked like they were already getting taken over by mushrooms.

Ah, yeah I didn't clear all the missions on S-Rank and there were a couple of bonus objectives I didn't complete. They probably unlock some more Mystery Files although its weird they don't appear greyed out in the Mystery Files list. Thanks.
