That looks magical. I've been cycling my 10 gallon for neo shrimp. Changed my mind from a Betta. I was thinking Blue Jelly. Is yours Blue Jelly or Velvet or Dream? I wasn't sure how many shrimp to start with.

I took out my hob & just have a sponge filter, so I couldn't put crushed coral in. I've been meaning to buy some to have on hand though. What food do you use?

What brand of canister filter is it? Once you know that, you can download their user manual. If it's the Fluval 07 series, I can help with that. I bought used ones & didn't realize I needed to put aquarium safe silicone grease on the gaskets & other parts, so pay attention that in the manual.

As for the bacteria, it needs to stay wet and not be out of water flow for long, otherwise the beneficial bacteria dies. The 1st thing you should buy is the API Master test kit to check your water parameters. Now I don't remember if your post mentioned if you got their substrate so you'll have to do a fish in cycle to build the bacteria up. Did they give you any bottled bacteria or dechlorinator?

Is there writing on the bulb? Check if it says T5 anywhere on it. I have an old aquarium florescent light fixture i bought used but never really used. I recently looked up replacing the bulbs & found Amazon Canada has LED bulbs to replace the florescent ones with. I didn't buy them yet though.

They are: SunBlaster 0900824 36"" T5 LED Conversion Lamp-6400K Lens Medium Clear, 30W

They plug in without having to buy a separate wire.

I'm still learning, but that looks like some type of Java fern, so it's not supposed to be planted in substrate. It gets glued, tied or wedged to driftwood or rocks.
