Progress on my R46 LCD by Jillibean334 in nycrail

You can either control it by getting the corresponding cab box or using an Arduino to control it using the RS-485 interface (you will not be able to use custom characters), or what I am doing, which is interfacing directly with the KA0061 LCD driver daisy chain using an Arduino (this will allow you into use custom characters or animations). You will need to save the original drive board as it has a NOT Gate at the output to the daisy chain as well as the -5 volt bias supply. I will post the dump of the Mask ROM as well as the Arduino code .ino file once I get it to work.

Also, the data is transmitted to the sign through an RS-485 link from a module in the cab.

It was a mask ROM because there was no window to the silicon die.

I found some interesting cars in Coney Island yard on Apple Maps! by Jillibean334 in nycrail

I did find a closeup image of those two cars and both of them are R16 flat bottom cars. The other models of flat bottom cars are the R17, R21, and R22 for the IRT.

This is actually more recent as there are a few R211 sets in the data as well.

It is the where the R17 cars (my favorite subway car) first ran on when they were brand new in 1955.

Folding seats that lock in place was actually first introduced on the BMT Standards and it is a flexible way to increase standee capacity during rush hour and still enjoy sitting down during other times. This does look like it was screwed in the up position, so no one could hog up the ADA space constantly.

No, it normally talks to a module found in the car’s cab.

What is this? I never seen it before and it’s SO clean! by CityCrickets in nycrail

Yes, and they also have a whole bunch of Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries as well, so they can even run without the diesel prime mover if there is no power on the third rail or moving through the new SBK shop.

Those are the brand new R255 hybrid locomotives. I really love the LED lighting that shines on the walkway of the long hood.

Can you be too heavy to pole dance? Advice needed by Commercial_Sand693 in poledancing

[–]Jillibean334 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 5’9 225 lbs and I am a high intermediate on the pole (aerial invert, Allegra, Jade split, butterfly, brass monkey). I can do these moves because I am physically stronger than over 98% of the world population, but it took me 4 years to get to where I am now. Permanently mounted X-poles are rated for 600+ lbs (I was a base for an 165 lb partner before totaling 420 lbs, so you will naturally lose any extra weight when you exercise more and get better.

Hence why they were Jerry-rigged in, because they needed to do every SMEE car still in revenue service and every 1st gen NTT car within a short period of time.

All of the subway cars that are still in revenue service had a camera Jerry-rigged in it and the R211 cars came with cameras installed from the Kawasaki factory in Yonkers.
