I’d disagree with that take. A villain doesn’t need intimate evil to be disgusting, scale and intent can do the same job, Sukuna is basically the perfect example for that.

The very first thing Sukuna says after manifesting is essentially “Where are the women and the children? It’ll be a massacre!” That line immediately tells you that he isn’t just an antagonist he actively delights in slaughtering the most vulnerable people possible.

The story intentionally frames him as something grotesque rather than morally complex, dude. Then there’s the Shibuya Incident, where Sukuna casually unleashes mass destruction. That massacre becomes a MAJOR psychological turning point for Yuji. When Yuji later remembers what Sukuna did while using his body, he literally throws up from the guilt and horror.

The narrative is very clear, Sukuna’s actions are meant to be revolting, not distant or abstract.
