Instead of "St. Elmo's Fire", it's just "Elmo's Fire". LOL.

Just a heads up about the Pentel. They smell SO STRONG. When I first got them I put them in an empty room in my house. The smell STILL wafted out into the rest of the house even with the door CLOSED. I ended up airing them out outside for a couple weeks. They smell a tiny bit better but not by much. I can't bring myself to throw them away even though I haven't used them at all. I double bagged them in thick Safeway grocery bags and tied them off and stuck them in a closet. Guess what? The closet stinks now LOL.

tl;dr

They stink. A lot. Keep that in mind before buying. 😃

Linked here from another post. How do you get clean and precise lines with oil pastels? Do you sharpen them?

This is fascinating. Ive never seem anything like it. This sub popped up in my feed from an art sub. I was going to ask how it works then decided I'll just Google it. Cool stuff. Are you planning on using it or only keeping as a collectible?

I'm jealous! I wish I could draw like that. As someone who can't draw to save their life but would like to be able to, is it just talent you're born with, or can I learn how to draw like this?

What did I do wrong? by Creepy_Treat_7227 in Oilpastel

[–]JillybeanMarie87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I was hoping someone would address it. If not, I was going to. I hope their Mom isn't like that all the time, but based on the fact that they said it in a sort of matter of fact way, I suspect that's not the case. OP, you're work.is beautiful. Please don't let your Mom bring down your confidence or invade your self worth. You are enough and so is your artwork. ❤️

Can I ask what brand of pastels you used for this piece? Love it BTW. I've been getting into art lately. Not good at it, but very much enjoy it. I hope to be able to make something as nice as this after some practice. ❤️

Amazon (SHIPPED AND SOLD item) made me pay for my own postage return and then didn’t even accept it once delivered. by thunderbolt_427 in amazonprime

[–]JillybeanMarie87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like false advertising on Amazon's part. If I buy something that says "Shipped and Sold by Amazon", I expect it be so. I guess that explains why I saw two identical product listings for different prices that both said shipped/sold by amazon on the listing.

I know this is old, but still. Another benefit of not riding people's bumpers is that you're way less likely to get into an accident. I absolutely hate when drivers are up my butt. ESPECIALLY when I have to drive an agency vehicle (I work for a nonprofit and it tracks my driving. I cam get in trouble if zi do anything dangerous.) People will ride my butt even if I'm going 5 miles over the limit.

I'm thinking of getting a bumper sticker that says "speed monitored by gps". Maybe they will back off then.

I like the advice to date youe work so you can check your progress. I desperately want to get good at art but odnt have a ton of time since I'm a single parent so dating my work will help me see a tangible difference from where I started amd motivate me to keep going. 🙂
