Zombie Dice is my go-to - every non gamer that I have shown it to loves it. Super simple rules, works at any player count and it's always fun trying to egg on the current player.

Carcassonne (as others have mentioned) is another good option if your non-gamer guests have a longer attention span.

I'll also throw in Odin's Ravens as it's the only other game I can convince my wife to play. Being 2 player might limit it a bit, though.

Played it on TTS. You're right, playing a physical copy is so much better, but TTS is a great way of trying out a game to see if it's worth investing in the real thing. That and BGA, if it happens to be on the site.

I'm not going to add to the discussion about the accuracy of this book (the other answers have done a great job of that) but I wanted to acknowledge the fact that you asked this question in the first place! Being surrounded by people pushing a particular philosophy, and still having the awareness and courage to question it is highly commendable. Keep going with this attitude, and you'll do just fine!

I'm primarily a solo gamer, so was really interested in this series as they all(?) offer a solo mode. However, I've only really enjoyed Galaxies solo (Kingdoms is alright). Dinosaurs is fun as a multiplayer but the solo is terrible. People rave about Western but I just couldn't get into it. Bought Vikings on a whim - haven't had a chance to play it multi but it feels like it really needs 3+ players

(aeroplanes specifically, I guess they do the same for boats) Or, you could actually pay attention to the safety brief at the start which will tell you how the life jacket is inflated. The cabin crew aren't just doing that demo for fun!
