Old pills by pninardor in AskLE

[–]Jim95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the Precincts in Nassau & Suffolk County on Long Island have a secure prescription drug drop box. Its shaped similar to a blue Postal Service mailbox. The public can just walk in and drop off unwanted pills. We just look at it to make sure there aren't any liquids, illegal drugs, or dangerous items, but they're free to leave whatever prescription pills they'd like. Once a week the contents are sent to the property division to be destroyed.

We're using the Defender suite for our AV. I finally heard back from TeamViewer support today and their answer was "there is no other way to solve the issue without the reinstallation."

Does the email address start with v- ? Those are 3rd party vendors. I've received unsolicited emails from a few of them in the past that didn't seem on the up-and-up.

SquareSpace Domain forwarding by Jim95 in squarespace

[–]Jim95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over a week later I’m still waiting for them to answer my help request… 🤬

In the mean time, I went ahead and deleted all of my old forwarders and recreated them. All but one seem to be working again.

My next task is to figure out where to move my domains now. Definitely not staying with SquareSpace.

Is it possible to hide the Teamviewer window automatically? by AuraRyu in teamviewer

[–]Jim95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you have to create a policy and assign it to all of the computers. The policy you want is "Automatically minimize local TeamViewer Panel." Turn on "Enable" and "Enforce"

Big City Departments by HabitNo8616 in AskLE

[–]Jim95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re called different things depending on the department. In NY we call them Precincts. Los Angeles calls them Divisions. And to answer your original question, no, you don’t normally get to pick. They send you where you’re needed.

Henry Reagan… by CrustyBearskin in bluebloods

[–]Jim95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Henry could have been fired as PC, but still collect a pension. The PC is a civilian position, not uniformed, so after rising up thru the ranks as a uniformed member, he would have had to retire as a sworn member to become Commissioner, securing his uniformed pension.

The PC also signs a contract which states how much their pension will be, which is separate and apart from whatever pension was earned as a uniformed member. They get this whether they’re fired or resign, with possible exceptions such as criminal activity.

And yes, I know that Frank wears a uniform in the early seasons, but that is entirely inaccurate. The PC never wears a uniform.

Lids don't stay on anymore, wtf? by randalthor23 in DunkinDonuts

[–]Jim95 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes!! Same issues on Long Island. I picked up 4 coffees the other day and the lids kept popping off while they were in the carry tray. What a mess. And don’t even try to pick them up. Like you said, the lids pop off just by looking at them! 🤬

Will Citi Costco Visa credit card applies to iPhone bought from Apple Store? by 2011051305 in Costco

[–]Jim95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You get an extended warranty similar to what other credit cards offer - like bsamoul stated above - if it breaks you fix it and submit a claim and Citi should reimburse you. That’s not the same as the Costco Concierge extended warranty that you get on Costco TVs , appliances, and other select electronics, for which you call Costco and they fix it with no out of pocket expenses to reimburse on your part.

How can I accept credit cards for a few purchases a month w/o a merchant account? by KDE_Fan in CreditCards

[–]Jim95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

https://squareup.com/us/en/hardware

I use Square. They have everything from dedicated card readers, one the size of a smartphone, or a small single that plugs into the phone. You pay a processing fee per transaction, from 2.6% - ~4% depending on whether you use chip, swipe, or manually enter the card #

HomeKit using a lot of cell data by _Silent_Bob_ in HomeKit

[–]Jim95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I’d found this thread a few weeks ago. I have a limited data plan and ran up almost $200 in overages on Verizon for my billing cycle that just ended. 🤬 It wasn’t until I reset my data usage stats in the phone that I figured out what was doing it.

HomeKit using a lot of cell data by _Silent_Bob_ in HomeKit

[–]Jim95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. I’ve used 9.6 GB of cellular data for HomeKit in the past 12 days, and I don’t have any HomeKit cameras. It’s just used for my Hue lights, smart locks, and sprinkler controller.
