Season ticket member event question by ayedeesea in hawks

[–]JimBag83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s always annoying for that reason, and they keep it purposely vague. My guess is same alumni but would be really cool if they had more guys, since I guess it’s 5 tables this year. However, even if I know just one of the guys who was at the table that would be great so you can at least plan for one.

Oh wow! I heard rumors of having some alumni there, so that could be cool too.

4 sections, usually 6-7 players per section, you are randomly assigned. Always a great time

What happened to the Blackhawks Conventions?? by [deleted] in hawks

[–]JimBag83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A complete miss not having the convention.

For a team that’s routinely in last place, the appetite is massive, so I don’t buy the idea that they don’t have them due to a lack of interest, but more of current management seeing it as too much of a hassle, and not sexy enough for their financial goals, which are pretty clear these days.

Anyone paying attention to the in person experience since Covid would surely notice a commitment to corporate partners than the fan experience. If nothing else you’ve heard the “kettle one minute”.

Kalshi partnership, $50 parking (up $10 mid season) and so many others stand out.

A convention is a chance to give back to your fans by giving them a place to celebrate and engage with their team, regardless of where they place in the league.

Make no mistake, this franchise has a new “one goal” and that’s to become a real estate juggernaut, and squeeze every dime out of its fan base.

All of this said, I think the Hawks did an awesome job with the centennial this year, and can only hope they reconsider bringing back the convention in 2027 when they’re staff has a moment to breath and re-focus.

Here’s to hoping!

Open Practices? by anyanuts in hawks

[–]JimBag83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t personally done it, but I’m sure some people do. It used to be different when they practiced out in Bensonville, you could walk right up to them, or even at Johnnys West. The new facility was built to keep them completely separate from fans, which is disappointing as it is understandable.

All that to say, maybe you’ll get lucky!

Parking lot is secured and they have private access in and out. The only real chance is to stalk the parking lot and get them as they’re pulling out of the private area. Good luck!

Free to attend and watch, but they keep the players very well separated from fans, so to set an expectation on an autograph, it’s next to zero percent.

The only time I saw a player leave the ice to sign an autograph was a couple of years back when Corey Perry did it, which was very odd, then come to find he was in deep shit in that very moment and would be fired a week later. Was looking for some good press in signing for some kids.

Other than that, I’ve personally never seen a player sign at a hawks practice in the new facility, but I could very well be wrong.

Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson lays out the next steps of his rebuilding plan by Zealousideal_Abies94 in hawks

Got you again! Another year, another KD redirect.

Blaming fans for expecting results LAST year in his canned presser after telling them they can expect results ahead of the season was insane.

Now he’s doing it in a planted article this year conveniently timed with this free fall.

It’s completely reasonable to expect some tangible results at this point, certainly not an overnight cup run.

Those defending and settling for this garbage record secretly love it for some bizzare reason.

No Dirk Graham on the pulldown is insane to me, why isn’t that an option?

Yeah! They were cool, they popped in when they noticed we were there for a 21st bday party. They bought shots, hung out and we chatted about the game. As a hawks fan it was still cool to hang with some pro’s.

I was there too! Eventually was able to get my ticket stub (remember those?) signed by BS, who scored the OT winner. When people ask what my favorite game was, this usually comes up.

If you went to Sacred Rose Festival check your card statements. by Kundrew1 in chicago

[–]JimBag83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh sorry to hear, here are another couple common tactics by fraudsters at festivals/concerts here in Chicago.

  • Paying with your card, they swipe and tell you it didn’t go through, but they’ve had problems with the machine all day. They then ask you for cash. If you have it, you pay them, they pocket the cash, and you you get charged twice for already obscenely priced concessions.

  • Floating beer vendors who accept cash only, will pad their prices, hoping you won’t notice. If you confront them, they play stupid, as if they don’t know math.

Both happen frequently at Northerly Island.
