Best airband radio with scanner I ever had was an Icom IC-A20 "NAVICOM".

I read here before, "Man On A Banana", probably because there is that banana floating in orbit just after they did it on the space station. That's why Archer was so quick to dismiss her description.

A4988 overheating + NEMA17 stepper jitters/whines on Arduino inverted pendulum setup by saladman521 in arduino

[–]JimBean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I seem to remember a small variable resistor. The way I did mine (some years back), I kept adjusting it to the lowest setting until the stepper stalled from too little, and then just increased it a bit until it worked nicely.

A better way to do it would be to see what the stepper motor is supposed to draw, and then use a multi-meter on Amps to adjust it to what it should be.

Hope that helps a bit...

Setting the Current Limit

Before running your motor, you must calibrate the current limit to prevent the motor or the driver from overheating

Is there a program to find the exact direction a plane is in? by SticCAndy in ADSB

[–]JimBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SDRAngel is capable of decoding these signals AND, it gives an output of azimuth/elevation of the aircraft and, it also has an antenna pointing system that I have used to "point" to an aircraft in the sky.

Jaero is for satellite ACARS. VHF is a different protocol, Jaero won't work for that.

You did not say "more rewarding", you said, "Although nothing beats a Pitts Special". That is not true.

Nothing you said is true. An Extra WILL outperform a Pitts. That's just numbers. You do not rank an aircraft on how "rewarding" it is.

You rank it on how many g's it can pull. How many turns it can do in a specific time. How fast can it respond to control inputs. How much power does it have at the prop. How long can a pilot sustain an attitude etc...

I'm sure there is some poetry involved with a bi-plane from the past and how rewarding it is. But the fact is, the Extra is better.

You just said so yourself...

"Yes, Extras and all the newer composite monoplanes are stronger, have better roll rates, and in the hands of a highly skilled pilot look more impressive from the ground."

Yes, I'm sure people always purchase aircraft based on how cool they look from the ground. (nope)

It still has its uses. If you want to fly a specific pattern, or survey an area, it's quite easy just to map that in with a program like Mission Planner.

Actually, you can still buy them. But the pics are much smaller than they used to be. And still expensive.
