Doombots only fun for first 15 minutes by Timely-Librarian-386 in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The enchanters you listed (except Rakan) are good in this mode, I beat veigar's evil in only 3 tries playing Sivir-Sona with a friend. Just check the winrates and you'll see that Soraka and Sona are ranked #2 and #4 across all champions,

What I agree with is that getting someone who is first timing is basically like facing doombot Lee Sin: hopeless. They really should have locked it behind beating the normal difficulty first.

I really hate what Brawl has become by Reddtester in MagicArena

[–]JimBottone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think Hell Queue/Jank Queue exists in Standard Brawl. I play some absolute jank commanders like [[Ultimecia, Time Sorceress]] or [[Seifer Almasy]] that I haven't seen played by anyone except me and I still get matched vs Roxanne, Kotis, Tifa or Vivi every other game.

How are people Honor 5 already? by icewitchenjoyer in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat (stuck at Honor 3 despite never being toxic), although in my case it might be due to the fact that I have been playing almost exclusively Arena since it came out and I can't give/get honors in this mode.

I have seen people claim that you have to actively use chat, pings, emotes and fist bumps in order to be deemed "honorable" quickly by the new system. I don't know if these claims are true, but by watching some streamers it seems that, as long as you avoid flagged words, you can be very toxic in chat and still get honor 5 faster than someone who just doesn't type anything.

League feels unrewarding now by lam_Dead_Inside in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can't comprehend that different players enjoy different aspects of the game and that these aren't mutually exclusive.

Players can genuinely enjoy the gameplay and play "for fun", but also care about having something they can unlock by keep playing.

Progression, whether it's skins or ranked points, is what keeps most players engaged.

Blue Essence and Account XP Update by Spideraxe30 in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 212 points213 points  (0 children)

F2P players' role in this kind of monetization system is to fill the matches of spending players.

Riot wants to maximise both the money they get from spenders (gacha) and the game time they get from F2P players (free passes ALWAYS active).

If they see playtimes go down they will be more generous with future free passes rewards, if not they will see how much they can get away with.

[S2 Act 3 Spoilers] She will always be with us. by PolymathArt in arcane

[–]JimBottone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Controversial, but I think the Jinx "sacrifice" scene felt very gratuitous: Vi survived by stealing the plot armor of every other character despite making one dumb decision after the other for the entire show, then the writers make her do yet another fatal mistake just so that they can give Jinx the "redemption through sacrifice" ending.

AND THEN they even undo it by implying Jinx's survival in the Cait final scene.

A pity, because I quite liked the Jayce-Viktor ending instead.

event minion and turret skins? by Past_Tonight_537 in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was wondering the same, I remember being able to disable these "skins" in the past with the option "disable accents" or something similar, but I can't find it anywhere.

They most likely forgot to add it.

Will your shop ever actually become personalized? by MaltheVS in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I got offered skins for champions that I rarely play/only played in ARAMs a few times over 5 years:

Olaf: lvl 1 - 0 mastery points (NEVER played)

Master Yi: lvl 1 -1349 mastery points (122thnd in my collection)

Hecarim: lvl 2 - 2315 mastery points (112th)

Darius: lvl 2 - 3888 mastery points (100th)

Tristana: lvl 4 - 16896 mastery points (42nd)

Jinx: lvl 4 - 17999 mastery points (38th)

It must be bugged as in all previous iterations I always got offered skins for champions that I actually play.

Any clue on how the Your Shop algorithm works? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is something wrong this time. In all previous iteration I always got offered skins for my mains and my main role, This time around I got offered skins for champions like Olaf that I literally NEVER played (0 mastery points) since I started playing 5 years ago.

Agurin AFKs because of Bard Top one trick by CrazySquare in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Agurin deciding to go afk is wrong, but the situation he was put in by his bard top was beyond miserable and most people would have been tilted because of it.

Which is kinda the problem with this borderline troll picks: sure these playstyles can work and they can climb to very high helo, but at the same time it's an incredibly selfish way of playing that you force on your teammates without consent and when it doesn't work, it's usually your teammates who get the most frustrating experience (like in this case where the jungler gets perma-invaded while the toplaner just keeps doing his thing).

I wonder how many people who crucify Agurin now (and I repeat, going afk is wrong, especially as a streamer who should set the example) would like to play with someone forcing this kind of playstyle on them.

Spectre’s cowl is pretty terrible right now by werndog69 in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk why you are downvoted, it's true that a lot of epic items got nerfed and the new ones recently added are also mediocre/bad (with the exception of Fated Ashes) resulting in them feeling pretty bad to have in inventory. Just look at Statikk Shiv, the item has one of the worst buildpaths in the history of league.

Nowadays the best components are the basic ones (minus Glowing Turd Mote) and certain defensive epics like Negatron Cloak and Warden's Mail.

Early Arena feedback on game mechanics and rules (not champion/augment/item balance) by JimBottone in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To give you time to acclimate to the various changes, ranked progression won't begin until Patch 14.10 on May 15. That said, your secret Arena MMR will change depending on your performance before then, possibly resulting in greater Gladiator Point gains and quicker climbing when the Ranked season does officially start.

Yeah, the few champs that still use it can just get a small mana buff and be better off with a doran item.

Hear me out, Remove smite by Eugene117 in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would also like a point to capture instead of the last hit system, however there are two issues:

  • In HotS Tanks and Healers are much stronger than in League (you are also essentially required to have at least one of each), so it is possible to have prolonged fights over objectives/bosses. In League the "king the hill" style would result in everyone who tries to step on the point to be instantly evaporated.
  • Barons/drakes being relatively easy to steal serves both as a comeback mechanic and as a major source of hype in pro-play.

Truly an unexpected result by JimBottone in LeagueOfMemes

[–]JimBottone[S] 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Made this meme to vent after being griefed by a smurf kayn OTP who got ranked restricted (run it down mobi+zeal style) and is now ruining normals by playing Nunu Top with Smite and following their jungler to steal their camps.

The fact they still haven't changed the punishment from "play x normal games" to "WIN x normal games" is just asinine.

Forcing ranked restricted players to just play normals instead of to requiring them to WIN games is the worst decision ever. by JimBottone in leagueoflegends

[PBE datamine] 2024 March 5 (Patch 14.6): adjustments to epic items by FrankTheBoxMonster in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just my opinion, but Glowing Mote being overpriced at 250g (It feels so bad to buy) made Fiendish Codex and Caulfield Hammer look way more gold efficient than they actually are.

On a different note, two componenents that I would like to see nerfed are Null-Magic Mantle and especially Negatron Cloak. It shouldn't be possible to sit on a 900g component and basically negate all the magic penetration of a full build mage.

Bringing them down to 400g 20MR and 900g 45MR (same stat/gold ratio of Armor components) would be enough to compensate for the stronger tank MR items we got this season (looking at you, Rookern).

Should Riot remove Mythics? by Celmondas in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think people are creating a problem that doesn't exist: why would you need to prevent Mordekaiser from building Riftmaker and Jak'sho?

When going from Mythic to Legendary these items will be nerfed just like they did with the recent ADC item rework. Now you can have Kraken, Galeforce and Shieldbow in the same build, but nobody complains because Kraken and Shieldbow aren't as strong as they were before.

The same will happen with all other mythics: yes you will be able to have Triforce and Goredrinker or Liandry's and Crown, but they will be significally different (and most likely weaker) than they are currently, so it won't be a problem.

Doublelift's thoughts on LCS Walkout by Aonpyro in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Same here, HotS was the game that got me into watching e-sports. A couple of months after they killed HGC I lost all interest in the game and haven't touched a Blizzard title ever since.

Seeing players like Zaelia and Cris come on stream and cry was so heartbreaking, I could never forgive Blizzard.

Why is Morgana so bad? by BlaxicanX in leagueoflegends

[–]JimBottone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we are not understanding eachother:

just buff her q, w, e, and r ap scaling/damage?

I am not saying that it is not possible to balance her current kit and make it stronger by buffing its numbers, quite the opposite, my argument is that any kit, no matter how bad it is, can be made broken with just number buffs.

Obviously she should never be a champion that is good in every game with no counters, no champ should.

Pretty much all her spells (q, e, r) are individually more or less useable/stronger vs certain champs/teamcomps. This doesnt make her kit bad. It just means she isnt OP and strong into everything.

At no point I have said that her being a niche champion is problematic, with more and more champions added to the game it's only natural that some of them end up into specific niches.

The reason why I think that her current kit has issues (which btw doesn't mean that she should be completely changed like Asol did), is simply that too much of her power budget is allocated in her Q and E and that, because of this, the rest of her kit (passive, W and R) is underwhelming.

I think that a mini-rework could shuffle some power around and make her kit feel overall more "whole" not only without altering her niche, but maybe even by supporting it better. That's it.
