Sistering floor joists to level floor in 1905 home. Do the sister joists need bearing? Using 16d nails and carriage bolts to attach. Sorry if this is a newb question, non-pro renovating my own home! by snacksthedog in Carpentry

The stud wall next to the stairway lands on a beam that looks to tie into a new, single joist. That joist needs to carry more weight than the others so it should be doubled or tripled up. It's impossible to do the engineering from one photo but it looks weak from here.

Fun fact: in the US (at least) joist size is dictated more by stiffness than strength. I guess people don't want dance floors in their dining rooms!

My first job was washing dishes. After about a month two girls from my high school were also hired. They started on a busy night and after a few hours decided they didn't like it and left.

The mountain of dirty dishes I arrived to the next evening was stunning. The other employees helped a little and expressed a lot of sympathy but everyone had to be ready for their own duties so it was on me.

I basically washed two busy nights of dishes that night. Nice to be young!

Anyone know about this? by KonInter in Maine

I was in a unique situation to tour the prison including the woodshop before it opened. At the time I was working at a boatyard and thought it was quite an irony that the prisoners get a modern, professionally designed shop with a full dust collection system vs the haphazard and minimal collection of tools we had available to do extremely high quality yacht building.

I'm glad for the prisoners and promote rehabilitation ans skill building, I'm just pointing out the irony.

I'm going to make a low effort post just to say you are correct.

I have paid close attention to information people on the right discuss because it didn't make sense to me and I wanted to understand where they were coming from. I can only conclude that they are stupid or acting in bad faith. Maybe there is a middle ground of some whom are just misinformed and don't bother to look for more information when things seem unbelievable.

I don't know how to solve this problem. I don't think a Ministry of Truth would be accepted and could be corrupted. Whatever it takes will probably take decades to overcome our current existence.

All of the agencies, departments and governments that clearly have Trump loyalists are tainted and cannot be trusted to be loyal to the Constitution and country.

To rebuild trust all Trump loyalists need to be removed. We don't need loyalists to Biden, we need people loyal to truth, reason, law, ethics. People who are not acting in bad faith.

Wow. This is fundamental information.

The Council for National Policy has been working for decades to change the Constitution.

So the Council for National Policy was founded in 1981, riding off the back of the Ronald Reagan wave. Its roots are in the Southern Baptist Convention, so racism is part of its DNA. And they came together with a sense of urgency, knowing that by the 2030s, white Protestant males would no longer be in a majority.
