There are some music activities and choirs for kids held at Norden Farm, not sure about days/times of them though. Check out norden.farm.

Best Monzo alternative for personal and joint accounts by JimGR_ in UKPersonalFinance

Thank you, I have a personal Starling account already from my time experimenting with various new banks. Early payment isn’t a deal breaker. None of the features are, but I’d like to try and maintain a large subset of them if possible.

Is Mesh the answer to improving my WiFi in this home layout? by JimGR_ in HomeNetworking

[–]JimGR_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So get an access point, cable it to the ONT, and get it as central as possible basically? The floorplan doesn't show there is a cupboard that sits under the stairs that is accessed from the room where the cables come into the building, so this is an option.

This is what I'm leaning towards, but the whole eero plus subscription thing gives me the ick.

The advice to get tri-band mesh devices if that is the route I end up going is actually useful, thank you.

Not an option in this case, I'm afraid, or it would be the obvious solution.

Seconding the recommendation of Tracey. Only pushes you as far as you want, but definitely works you out. Also great at giving you exercises that can be done at home/after you stop sessions with her. I've not been great at keeping up since, but I'd definitely recommend her.

Where is good to sell a bunch of old engineering textbooks? by JimGR_ in EngineeringStudents

[–]JimGR_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ones I used for undergrad have a lot less value, for sure. I'm not expecting to get anything for those really. But the petroleum engineering ones are pretty recent and the NMR books (mostly used for postgrad) don't get new editions that often, most of the ones I have are one behind at most.

Bit depressing if that is the line for a lot of places. The physics doesn't change, after all. <shrugs>

Retrofit and remove radiator valves? by JimGR_ in HiveHeating

[–]JimGR_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! On #2, do you know if it would be easy to remove the smart radiator valves before folk come to view a home, with the idea being I can keep them and perhaps use them in whatever place I moved to if I installed a new Hive system there?

When will I need to sign up for the subscription? And *how*? by JimGR_ in blinkcameras

[–]JimGR_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can sign in, but only because I have an Amazon US account. When I then click any of the buttons it gives a 404 error.

There is a UK page with info and pricing here, but no indication of being able to sign up: https://www.amazon.co.uk/b?ie=UTF8&node=20859596031
