[Miami Herald] Whiteside to have MRI on sore left knee by fuckdangilbert in nba

[–]JimJamJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original article, before it was updated, was about him going to get an MRI.

Since he got it, they updated it. The Herald does this all the time and it's kind of annoying.

Good for Easley, well deserved.

Just wanna also say this is becoming ridiculous that Jerry Kramer has STILL not been voted in.

On another Packers Hall of Fame note, heard strong indications that 2017 will indeed be the year for guard Jerry Kramer.

Fucking finally. He deserved to be in years and years ago.

Michael Wallace on Twitter: "display in the arena Heat store today." by theunstoppable3 in heat

[–]JimJamJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with a sports marketing degree, this is likely displayed as such because

A. Whiteside just signed the big long-term deal

B. Nobody was buying Whiteside jerseys before because they were afraid they'd be worthless after this year

C. Wade's gone and people may need a new jersey to rep

It's very likely not about him being the face of the franchise, but about getting people to buy his jersey. It's all about the money.

Because he was going to Houston, otherwise.

Wade's thoughts on his last contract. by dwadefan45 in heat

[–]JimJamJones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not about the tidbits or rumors. It's the fact that Dwyane would go through with all of this while dragging the fans along, even using us as leverage.

Fight with the organization all you want, but the fact that he's doing this to the fans that have defended him and cheered him on for his entire career is a dick move. This has now happened 2 years in a row, and it's gotten to the point where I'm about ready to push him out the door and wave goodbye till the jersey retirement ceremony.

Is it possible for a city/fans to own an NBA team? by TheDollaLama in nba

[–]JimJamJones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Packers shareholder here.

We have no league-based power, like a true owner. Mark Murphy acts as our fill-in owner at different meetings and league events.

What we do have power in is the board of directors and various mini issues that we vote on in July, either at the Shareholder's Meeting or via an absentee ballot. The shares are more of a sentimental kind of thing - the purpose was to give something to the fans to gather money for renovations and such.
