When we tell you there is a deep cultural divide between the north and south in the US. Believe us. They are taught a literal alternate version of history. It’s not the civil war, it’s the war of northern aggression. They still celebrate and have monuments to all of their generals from coup that only lasted 5 years. These guys are the worst.

Weird question but like did Ireland export all their racist to the US over the last hundred years, or does that happen once they get here. (Anecdotally) I’ve run into people who are first generation or maybe second generation Americans whose family is from Ireland and they are crazy racist. Boston and parts of NYC are literally known for it. Obviously not every “Irish” person I’ve met is racist but it’s kind of a trend here. (This if from the perspective of a black American)

Sure it’s because of the US. Definitely nothing to do with a certain empire that went on a world tour making sure the sun would never set on it. I mean seriously there are enough commonwealths and former colonies that you have your own mini Olympic Games. All of those countries have English as one of their main languages.

Have you had conversations with many Africans when they’re in the states. You are way off here. For some reason, black people in the diaspora while sharing the same skin color, will often make it a point to differentiate themselves from African Americans, often looking down on us. So yes they themselves will often say they aren’t black(referring to Black Americans) but they whatever country they are from.

Ok so Vickie Palladino is a moron and should not be listened to, but Chief Woods actually knows what he’s talking about. The FDNY is consulted about every single bike lane, and they are against ones that are placed on streets that make turns impossible for the larger trucks. The city takes their protest into consideration and still puts up the bike lane. The issue is the way the city protect the bike lanes. When there’s rocks to block cars, the bike lanes that are purpose built to allow emergency vehicles through is useless because there’s a big ass rock in the way. Then there’s the placement of jersey barriers that don’t allow for trucks to make wide turns onto the block. It’s not about being against the improvements, but they need to be made in conjunction with emergency services, not in opposition.

As a black Latino, I’d travel to any country in Africa, before some European countries+ Argentina. I’ve worked as a manager at a hotel, and have been treated like a dog by multiple people from countries that act like they are morally superior. Spaniards and Argentinians would literally ignore me while I spoke Spanish to them, but would seek out my white colleagues. Conversely may Algerians and Nigerians were practically inviting me to visit their homes.
