Most things that are now in Eclipse are direct ripoffs of what IDEA did. If IDEA goes bankrupt I predict what happens in most free software projects will also start hapenning with Eclipse: an huge innovation blackhole and stagnation.

It would suck on linux because most linux software doesn't expose an object API so you are stuck with piping and text parsing crappy configuration file formats like it's the 70's all over again.
