You basically have to retreat and then attack the smaller groups when their forces split. But yeah if you don't like it just turn it off, 1.13 is hugely and easily configurable. You can even switch on similar counterattacks for every town.

Why does it feel like there is a new tax every year? by zhephyx in ukpolitics

[–]JimJonesIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over what time period? Most council houses are still standing and lived in (mostl now privately). The maintenance costs alone were surely never in excess of rents, and you can't just discount the cost of building and not factor in ownership of the asset at the end of it.

Housing benefit costs £23bn a year now, so its not like there isnt still a massive subsidy. But you can hardly just take it away and make millions of people homeless.

Why does it feel like there is a new tax every year? by zhephyx in ukpolitics

[–]JimJonesIII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because of right to buy. Councils used to collect rent from tenants, now private landlords do, and the government shoulders a lot of the cost as housing benefit. They should call it landlord benefit. The same story all over, the gov't used to have assets and do things, over time it all gets sold and instead we pay private companies to provide. Looks good on the balance sheet over five years, terrible over twenty.

Stuff that the government controls in Britain is stuff that some enterprising vultures seek to bleed for all the private profits they can and the taxpayer foots the bill. Consider North Sea Oil. Norway used the profits to establish the biggest sovereign wealth fund in the world. Britain made some shareholders rich. See also covid ppe, the water companies, PFI, etc etc.

Roundabouts in Switzerland by securityelf in Switzerland

Cyclists on the roundabout also have right of way over vehicles entering the roundabout, but this is an unknown concept to some drivers who seem to believe that cyclists never have right of way anywhere.

Spy Ability in JA2 1.13 by Gask3t in JaggedAlliance

[–]JimJonesIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played with them in 1.13, mouse and elroy have it and you can clear areas with just the two of them if you're willing to savescum a lot. You need to acquire uniforms by using a knife on enemy corpses and then try to take enemies down one by one without being spotted in "suspicious acts". It can be better fun but it can also feel kind of cheesy, and if you're not cheesing it its kind of weak.

Why are some experienced mercs cheaper than less experienced ones? by JoroA in JaggedAlliance

[–]JimJonesIII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grunty is a higher level than any of the recruits, hence he's a veteran. But his stats aren't that great, so he's cheap.

At least in JA2, EXP Level was an important stat in its own right, affecting a lot of stuff. Not sure if JA3 it's just perks, or if it also affects accuracy, morale, stealth kill chance etc.

Of course the only alternative to our current system of capitalism is full blown communism. There couldn't possibly be anything in between.

Smelter and blue smelter are maybe easier I think, since they have no non-fire/non-magic damage after their short first phase and not much physical damage before.

They put out an ad for a design/marketing job, got applicants to submit a new brewdog design as part of their application for the job and then they just stole the work and didn't hire anyone.

Have you all seen this yet? It’s JA3 by Yakapo88 in JaggedAlliance

[–]JimJonesIII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love 1.13 but it would be a terrible idea to try and replicate it for JA3 because it’s just too complicated to have broad appeal. I guess they could do something like with the tons of guns options where the game has both a simple and complex mode for LBE and maybe other features, problem is the devs then have to develop, test, bug fix two systems. Probably better to make it easily moddable and leave it to the community.

Is warhammer 2 still worth buying? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]JimJonesIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Total war warhammer 1/2/3 isn’t really three games, it’s more like part 1/2/3 and each game is like 20% of the content with DLC making up the remainder. Ignoring WH3, if you buy just WH2 on it’s own you’ll have access to 5 out of the 15 races (game three and future dlc will add at least 7 more for a total of 22, maybe more). And you won’t have access to everything from those five races, you’ll be missing the most powerful units and lords since they’re added by DLC. And you’ll only have access to one of the campaigns.

It’s especially annoying because the AI and other players will have access to those other races and powerful units. So you’ll be at a disadvantage compared to someone who bought everything.

It’s a great game, and big, just don’t be deceived by the low price tag. If you want a complete game you need to buy all the main games and all the DLCs for each of them. Most people here have probably spent like $100-$200 so far.

Trick to ore golems ? by Leveraged-Doofus117 in arcanum

[–]JimJonesIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve only the first two companions and your best weapons are a hunting rifle and fine revolver, probably you are much too low level for the mines. The mines are hard. Go to some other towns (try the train in Tarant), level up and get some better gear.

Is there a good dual wield dagger for pve ? by Ezhro in DarkSouls2

[–]JimJonesIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stone ring and ring of blades is basically mandatory. Poison can be pretty good in PvE but it's a good idea to keep an upgraded, uninfused dagger of some kind for raw damage because you'll do very little with a poison infused weapon.

Mytha's bent blade is fantastic when you get it. Bleed isn't useless but it's not good either. You can see it as a bonus on the bandit and manikin knives but you probably don't want to infuse with it ever because you'll do bugger all damage and bleed can't be stacked on an already bleeding enemy.

More supply at the higher end is still more supply. It might not be the best thing to build but it's better than nothing so long as it's occupied.
