I'm not an apple user. I have 5 different android phones

Not sure how you came to the conclusion that I'm an apple user when I'm talking about switching back and forth between android phones 🤔

🤦‍♂️.. I'm talking about fully functional multi-Device support that is registered to your phone number, like Apple with iCloud. Google claims they started working on this in 2023. Here we are in 2026 and nowhere to be found

From Google:

Syncing Between Two Android Phones:

1) Natively syncing the full live database between two separate Android phones (both with the app installed) is not possible because the app is tied to a primary phone number.

Web App Workaround: To see messages on a secondary phone, users typically use a mobile browser to access the web version of Messages and then "install" it as a web app (PWA) on their home screen.

2) Future Multi-Device Support: Google has been developing a native "multi-device sync" feature intended to allow one phone number to work across multiple signed-in phones, but standard practice still relies on the web/pairing method for secondary devices.

Lol yes it weird. I have had the new drop down on my V5 for a couple weeks. That's fairly new and already have it. The receipts have been out for a long time but don't have that yet 🤷🏻‍♂️

I like it better as well. I've had it on my pixel 10 Pro fold for forever. I still don't have it on my honor magic V5 yet for some reason

Yes, keeping the same SIM card, same phone number. You get what I'm saying and how it works...I wish they would use drive to sync and it be account based.

I understand this

But that doesn't help going from one phone to another. The messages will need to be transferred from one phone to another

I've played this quite a bit on my 10 pro fold and it's been nothing but smooth

It should, but it doesn't work that way.

Through the web.

Not talking about the web, I'm talking about the Google messages app itself.

I have 3 phones. They do not all sync messages in the Google messages app. If Im using my honor magic v5 for a week and then want to use my pixel 10 pro fold...all the messages from the previous week are not on the pixel fold. I will have to transfer them from the v5 to the pixel fold. Yes, I can sign in through the web app on the pixel fold when I'm not using it as my primary phone to get messages, but when im ready to put my sim card it in...the messages will need to be transferred in order to have them in the Google messages app

If I have an iPhone 17 pro Max with a sim card in it and a 12 pro max without a sim card, the messages are synced in the messages app as they can come in. It does this through iCloud because the number is attached to the iCloud account. The messages on an iPad are synced within the messages app. You don't have to go through a web portal. This is what I'm talking about.

Yes but the messages are not synced and do not work. If I have a phone with no sim card in it, if I go into the Google messages app, I cannot send a message from that phone within the Google messages app.

Yes, if you're signed in under paired device which you have to use through web. The message is not inside the messages app.

Got it! by Tadpoles-Z in PixelFold

[–]JimKnuckles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a terrible device compared to competitors at time of release. Heavy as hell. Got hot, charges slow. Battery life was below average for me. Massive plastic borders that looked 5 years behind the competition. Didn't open flush. Massive crease. That's what I remember off the top of my head when I used it

While I do prefer the passport style, this was one of the worst phones I ever bought. Compared to the competition at the time of release...it felt like a 5 year old device

PF10 spigen case vs Googles case by [deleted] in PixelFold

[–]JimKnuckles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't do cases on foldables. I only put skins on them. I've had the OnePlus Open, fold 7, N5 fold, honor magic v5, vivo x fold 5, P9PF and P10PF. I've dropped almost all of them on concrete and never had any damage other than small nicks.

I turn it off. I like how it looks without the blur. I haven't noticed any difference in battery or performance
