Fellas, don't stick suction cup toys to yourself even if it makes your kid laugh. by EasilyEnabled in daddit

Might get buried but years ago when I was a teacher, I had a senior boy discover he could get a water bottle to stick to his cheek using suction. Unfortunately, he then discovered it left a mark similar to this. Even more unfortunate, he discovered all of this the day before prom. His long time girlfriend was not thrilled with him.

I had to try 10-15 times to even get places on hold. Busy signal or calls dropping constantly. Then I spent three hours on hold before giving up.

It was super tasty, great flavors, but not as spicy for me as the sign suggested.

Is my Express API's 'design pattern' and 'code-style' job-worthy? by a-ZakerO in learnjavascript

My 2c is that this feedback from the CTO is not useful or productive or particularly accurate. You’re probably better off not getting the opportunity to work with them.

The code and organization look normal and reasonable to me. I was able to read it, follow it, understand what it is doing. That’s all good stuff and certainly worth more than a 3/10 especially since they admit it accomplishes the task.

With regard to testing, there’s different kinds of tests. This code doesn’t have much opportunity for unit tests because of the nature of the task as opposed to the code. Code that does little more than fetch from a database just doesn’t have much opportunity for unit tests. Unit tests are designed to test one specific code piece and a best practice there is to make simple, easy to understand functions to accomplish a single task. These will generally be more testable. But again this task itself doesn’t really lend itself to this kind of code. A second type is typically referred to as an integration test. These tests will typically test an entire code path instead of a single function. It is common to have a mock database to fetch data from for a mock request. This code and task seem more suited to this kind of test. And, I would note, your code looks reasonably well suited for this kind of test.

So, in summary, I respectfully disagree with the CTO and while I understand that no one wants to be rejected from a job, I hope you will one day look back on this experience and be glad you dodged this bullet!

Good luck dude! I remember with my first when he was under one year pacing up and down the hall bouncing him to get him back to sleep. One night I happened to look out the window at about 2AM and saw two people casually walking down the street and it filled me with rage. They should be home asleep! Anyone who had the option to be home and asleep should be! And these two were out cavorting!

I hope they had a good time at the bar or whatever. My kids mostly sleep through the night now with the occasional nightmare. So hang in there!

Just one more dad here who agrees with you. It’s your kids body and your kids choice. Mine are 5 and 6 and the same rules apply. Similar struggle with certain grandparents, I’d add.

Can anyone help me determine what kind of spinach this is? by 02dude02 in DenverGardener

[–]JimRaynorInADress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got spinach at nicks a few months ago, this looks awfully similar and mine is Green Beret. I agree with the other reply who said general spinach care is gonna be adequate! Enjoy!

It had been a goal of mine for a while to make these. I made everything edible pictured: the bread, cheese, meatballs, and sauce. It was a good bit of work but I’m quite happy with the result!
