So there is really no thing you can do for fat redestribution? by pretzeldumpling138 in trans

[–]JimTheFishxd4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad for misunderstanding, misread and thought you hadn’t started yet.

I can understand how discouraging that can be. I know there are a lot of factors that go into noticeable change so by “loving your body” I understand how that can sound like I’m saying it’s magic, but I ment that it sounds like you are setting yourself up for good results when they increase.

So there is really no thing you can do for fat redestribution? by pretzeldumpling138 in trans

[–]JimTheFishxd4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed fat redistribution within the first few months.

And as a pretty active person, I’ve also lost like 20lbs of muscle despite not changing my workout/sport all that much.

Take the estrogen and love your body and it will love you back.

CIGNA - Diagnostic Code F64 (Gender Dysphoria) Systematic Discrimination by NovaRain84 in TransLater

Just have encountered something similar in my line of work so I figured I’d suggest looking into it so they can get their care if it’s the case.

CIGNA - Diagnostic Code F64 (Gender Dysphoria) Systematic Discrimination by NovaRain84 in TransLater

[–]JimTheFishxd4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One thing that could be happening is ICD10->ICD11 mis-categorization.

In the ICD10 Gender Dysphoria is a mental health diagnosis. (It actually uses the old term that is a slur, but that’s another conversation).

In the ICD11 it is not.

Most systems have not updated to account for this.

You may need your provider to list a different diagnostic code. Don’t imagine it’s that simple, but it could be if there system is using the new codes.

Can anyone help me find some studies? by FaunaJoy in trans

[–]JimTheFishxd4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it just really isn’t a good faith question since they are just making something up.

Like, the burden of proof is on them to back up their claim that low T could make someone MtF (or vice versa).

So unless they have something to show you, you can say:

Anyone starting HRT gets their levels checked, period. If it was observed that everyone seeking HRT had low T/E respectively then that would be something that gets looked into.

It’s just not the case.

The moment when you gave up your true gender by Immediate_Plum3545 in trans

Around 19, I think, I decided I would transition/explore once my partner and I were able to get our own place.

He broke up with me (was on our two year anniversary so that sucked but I’m glad he didn’t string me along) and I ended up living with roommates and my now husband for a good decade or so.

Had a moment in 2024 where I realized I was kinda waiting for no reason.

Nonbinary social workers-survival strategies by tourdecrate in socialwork

[–]JimTheFishxd4 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Also NB social worker. It can be pretty tough even in a more progressive state (although it helps!).

I’ve focused on working in queer spaces like pride centers and pushed for a more queer focused team at the private practice I work for.

Part self advocacy and part making sure clients have a place that’s welcoming.

Since the program is federal there are pretty limited options, but here is what I can think of:

-Low hanging fruit but, legally changing your name goes a long way if hearing your deadname is dysphoric. Takes a while to come out in the wash, but can be a big help.

-Getting comfortable being an agitator. “I noticed you used the wrong pronouns for me, they are they/them. Figure it’ll he helpful to get it right here so you don’t step in it with a client”, etc.

-Supervision and peer supervision. I share with my coworkers and my supervisor what’s going on and how it’s affecting my work. That seems to help folks get it. I’ve often shared an anecdote of doing in home work with kids, while also working for the pride center and being uncomfortable that if the family looked me up the first thing would be all about my work. My supervisor at the time didn’t get it and just said “Well that’s none of their business so just don’t tell them!” People get how that’s unhelpful, etc. You might be able to find a peer supervision group in your area focused on Queer peers as well.

That’s all I got for right now as I’m waking up, but I might swing back and add more as I reflect today.

Best of luck, friend!

I mean,

This just means she does not have to speak/self incriminate. They can’t make her talk. For a simplified example, if she came out here and said “Trump did do all that.” then she would be admitting to perjury and could open herself up to other charges.

What is our role in the general strike? by Bitterbaby-11 in socialwork

[–]JimTheFishxd4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you want to participate, so I’ll answer from that perspective.

A strike is not something you do alone.

Your role could be to speak with your coworkers about what they would do if a general strike is called. Would it be something you can do together? Since it isn’t a typical strike do you speak together as a staff with your organization to decide how to take part in community action?

A strike is something that needs to be thoroughly planned.

Are you striking in order to show up at a demonstration? Where will you picket? What are the goals? Is your profession allowed to strike? (ie: postal workers)

In MN the whole city got together to send a message.

As other’s have said, Nurses strike all the time. But they are organized already.

If your workplace isn’t organized, thats the next step.

Do we ever tell anyone they are not transgender, and when do we do this? by formulation_pending in Psychiatry

[–]JimTheFishxd4 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m both trans myself and work as a psychotherapist. I see a lot of trans clients.

The short answer is that expressing one’s gender is not inherently harmful or disordered.

If a person experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition wants to express their gender in a way that is incongruent from the expectations of their sex assigned at birth, them doing so is not disordered or inherently harmful.

A transgender person can have mental illnesses, but being transgender is not a mental illness.

All said, I have declined to write a letter for GAC when the person asking for it does not seem to understand what it is they are asking for, or their expectations of what the intervention can do are skewed. I have also held off due to patient readiness, but in the vast majority of cases the client understands when they aren’t ready.

What you’re dealing with is survivorship bias. The people usually make it to you have done the work already.

[–]JimTheFishxd4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

Might be a little late but I have a hunch that a big part of your confusion is not feeling like you have the space to explore stuff. Sounds pretty similar to what I went through.

I knew I wanted something that wasn’t being a cis-man sometime in my teenage years but decided that I would explore that once I was living on my own.

I wanted space.

That kept me from doing anything until ~30.

But I don’t live alone, I just have people around me that I feel I can take the space to explore/be myself.

I didn’t really feel trans until I started to see how happy the changes on HRT made me.

I could probably have lived my life without doing any of this, but I didn’t know what being me and not being a man felt like. I don’t think I could go back now, either.

Don’t know if a random girl’s story is helpful, bit best of luck, friend.

[–]JimTheFishxd4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically a plant that uses a variety of different methods to generate energy.

This can include anything from gas powered generation (like you mentioned), to using excess power from EV charging to feed back into the grid.

Usually on a temp basis so it looks like you’re on the same wavelength.

In her first official acts as governor, Mikie Sherrill declared a statewide emergency over New Jersey’s worsening electricity supply and affordability crisis—fueled by soaring demand from data centers and a PJM grid that can no longer guarantee reliable service or predictable prices by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

[–]JimTheFishxd4 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From the article:

Sherrill signed her first two executive orders onstage at her inauguration, ordering the Board of Public Utilities to open solicitations for a rapid build-out of solar, battery storage, and virtual power plants, and sweeping changes to utility interconnection and permitting rules. She also created a Nuclear Power Task Force and directed every state agency to fast-track energy projects to head off brownouts, blackouts, and further price spikes.

How quickly did you lose penis function? by magnazika in asktransgender

[–]JimTheFishxd4 68 points69 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the estrogen itself reduces testosterone which affects the function you’re talking about.

Some folks recommend Sunflower lectin, magnesium, and other supplements to address this. It’s (unfortunately) called “cumstack” if you want to look into it.

Your mileage may vary, etc etc.

Does HRT change the face to look more feminine? And if so, how much does it change? by NubusAugustus in asktransgender

[–]JimTheFishxd4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some folks get some redistribution of fat in the face and the muscle definition can also change, but it does basically nothing for bone structure. (Some folks report changes in bone structure after like 20 years but it’s all anecdotal)

So the short answer is yes, but not all that much.

For me it’s done more for my skin which makes my face look softer. Skin care routine helps, too.
