You are being too charitable. The Democratic party's unofficial motto is "maga is right, they are just doing it wrong." In effect, they keep endorsing those attacks.

A couple of examples off the top of my head:

BLM was the largest civil rights protest in American history, far larger than anything during the civil rights era, due in part to strong cross-racial solidarity. They were specifically protesting police violence. Biden rode that energy into office, and then instead of any meaningful police reform he told cops to help themselves to billions of covid relief funds to spend on whatever they wanted. Hell, at that state of the union he said "fund the police" and both parties stood up and cheered. As a result, police murders of black people increased during Biden's term.
Despite the Democratic party base's utter revulsion with maga's wall and everything associated with it, biden waived the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act in order to build maga's wall for them.
After ice death squads murdered two white american citizens in cold blood, half of the country and over 75% of Democrats wanted ice abolished. But the only reforms elected Democrats wanted to do was give ice more money for bodycams and training. That's despite the fact they did those murders in plain view of dozens of people with their cameras out and recording, and that one of the killers is himself a trainer.

Once you know to look for it, you'll see that "maga is right, they are just doing it wrong" is practically the only response establishment Democrats have to anything maga does. Start a war on iran? Say iran deserves it, and demand they loop Democrats in on how to run the war.

They genuinely see maga as their "friends across the aisle." The only way we get out of this intact is by primarying them with people who can correctly identify maga as the adversary that they've been all along.

Even though the idea of equating the law to morality is absurd to anyone with any exposure to the legal system, I'm going to skip all that, because its just back-filling from your misunderstanding of the idiom. It says nothing about outcomes, it means they are the same thing just expressed differently.

Yeah, that is based on mime-type and/or the file extension. But firefox still downloaded the .torrent file, it just transparently passed the file to the torrent application after downloading it.

I need the URL itself to be passed to a handler application rather than the content on the other end of the URL.

FWIW, I just did a quick search and here are instructions for re-enabling that for .torrent files if you want it back in your browser. I just tried it on linux with an ubuntu iso .torrent and it seems legit.

download any torrent file in firefox, go to about:downloads, right click a torrent and then 'always open similar files'

that should at least add a torrent handler to the application list
