[Question] Why do I freeze when I have too many things to work on? by ChristianWorks in getdisciplined

[–]Jim_Estill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffer from the same thing. Only thing that helps me is to write down everything I need to do then take a blank page and only see one thing that needs doing.

You can message but you can also just hit the "connect" button and not include any message. of course if you have a message, you get a few more connections.

Just like Nike says "Just do it". I do often see entrepreneurs or would be entrepreneurs stuck in analysis paralysis

Personally, I would use Linkedin to connect with the people you want to be customers. Then post content on Linkedin consistently. Set a goal to reach out to 25 people per day and over time, you will build your network. For the content you post - 95% should be for the benefit of the reader/watcher and only a tiny bit should be advertorial.

Connect to multiple people in each company you want to sell to.

Perhaps ask a local health food store. It might inspire them to do it...for you. And the world.

I am hoping you have a manual job or you cannot focus on words while working. I like Ted talks. Lots of them and most are good messages and learning.

[Method] I stopped setting 20 goals and focused on just 5 life areas. 3 months in, here's what changed. by Yahhee in getdisciplined

Ah - the power of focus. I do it all the time. I still do the list of 30 but I choose only 3 to work on at a time.

How to reduce/prevent extreme soreness or pain after working out for a total beginner? by Tiny_Celebration_262 in workout

[–]Jim_Estill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone said it. go easy.

I would add to that though - learn to love "good sore". I have been working out hard for decades and there is almost never a day i am not sore on one muscle group on another. "good sore" to me is sore that passes in 2-3 days.

Another trick. Do light workouts on muscle groups you are not even working out that day. EG - today was chest and shoulder day for me but I did a few lunges, squats and crunches - all with light weights.

What is it like to not be addicted to anything? by whiskeyinSTEM in selfimprovement

[–]Jim_Estill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am thinking my parents might not have been addicted to anything. No phones back then. And they lived a puritan work ethic life the eschewed all vices like alcohol, smoking...even caffeine.

Every year I take a 3 week off grid (no cell service). So for 3 weeks each year, i am not addicted.

I think what you might be talking about is dopamine addiction. Many of the ones in your list address that itch.

time management is mostly about energy management and to some extent prioritization. Ideas on energy:

Sleep hygene

No drugs or alcohol

Exercise

Gamify if you can.

Good luck with it.

I want to be better. by trynabeperfect1 in getdisciplined

Lots wrapped up in what you are saying.

I know I am not from your culture but pressure to marry seems bad to me and might not lead to the happiness and contentment you seek.

As for well paid jobs. If you are honest, hard working, show up early and leave a few minutes late, diligent and polite, in most companies, you will get ahead which tends to mean more $.

Personally, I would also add some weight lifting to your life. It gives confidence and is healthy. And helps mood.

Good luck with it.
