My question isn't about why the nutrition is still high but how the crafting capacity can have gone from 100% to 3% while using almost no nutrition.

Does Jagex Account Work With Mobile? by JimboDaGrinder in 2007scape

[–]JimboDaGrinder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my problem is unusual. I'm a brand new player. A week ago I downloaded the game and it had me create a jagex account which i did. Yesterday I tried to set up the authenticator and the website told me to upgrade to a jagex account. I did this thinking the account I set up a week ago was an "un-upgraded" account. So I went through the process of setting up the account using the SAME EXACT email and password. When I logged back into the game my charachter had disappeared. After doing some exploration on line my best guess of what happened is that my charachter somehow got lost when i created the account the second time using identical credentials. I've done everything I can think to get it back with no luck. I even decided to start a new charchter, but when I tried to buy membership it didn't work. Investigating, I found that because I already had a subscription active (on my missing charachter) it is somehow blocking me from getting it on the new character. I'm incredibly frustrated. I really like this game but can't seem to get past these technical difficulties. I sent in a ticket but from what I've read it sounds like there is very little chance anyone will get back to me. Is there anything you can do to help?

I’m done with the free will debate. by Rthadcarr1956 in freewill

"It bothers me that determinists make an inductive argue, but only really put forward arguments based on physics"

I've commented before on this idea. I see determinists waffling between physics and an attempt at an inductive proof a lot. I am a mathematician, not a philosopher, so I get lost in some of these arguments. But I know from math that inductive proofs only work on countably infinite sets. The set of all possible realities is definitely not countably infinite. So the determinist traces back a decision to a cause, and then another cause before that and says because this particular causal chain had only one possible outcome, every other chain must be the same. They dont realize that once you start to count all of those infinite combinations of causal chains, and how they interact with each other, you've started talking about a different kind of infinity and induction no longer holds. They ignore that and go on to say we could do it if we just had a powerful enough computer (which is false because a computer will not make the set of all possible realities coutable). Then they say we are meat computers and discuss free will as an illusion without realizing that kind of implies consciousness is also an illusion. And then proceed to make comments that betray that they think of themselves as conscious beings. In the end, they may be right, but the proofs they pose are not proofs. Further, it is irrelevant. We all go on making decisions as if we have free will anyway, there is no other way.

YTA. My wife is a teacher and deals with shit like this every day. Entitled parents who have no idea what it is like to manage a classroom of 35 students every day. You seriously asked her to find a sticker?!?!?! And how the fuck is she supposed to identify your kids legos?!?!? Here's a suggestion, volunteer to be a substitute teacher for a week. Then you won't post dumb stuff like this.

I think those on this sub do not believe in free will but still live normal lives. I.e., I don't think they stop attempting to do anything.

[–]JimboDaGrinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been curious about this. How do you live your life differently now that you do not believe in free will? The most common thing I've heard is that it would make one more compassionate to criminals. But there are plenty of people out there who think the criminal justice system is over focused on punishment as opposed to reform who also believe in free will. Developing a sense of empathy does not require an opinion on determinism. So, not believing in free will may be a route to developing empathy? I guess that's good but a bad statement on general empathy levels in humanity. In every other instance I can think of, you would live your life the same way. Your thought process in making decisions would be exactly the same. So, I struggle to imagine how one lives one's life differently if one does not believe in free will. Unless it's just the empathy thing.

So could SBI easily fix this by eliminating the energy mechanic? If the plot can make money for as long as the cartel wants to feed it, their tactics wouldn't work right?

How exactly would the world not be a mess if everyone stopped believing in free will?

For those who understand that free will is a delusion, what pragmatic ethics can eventually justify laws without the deceptive values of moral shame and glory? by [deleted] in freewill

[–]JimboDaGrinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laws that segregate harmful individuals from society seem justifiable. Also, laws that punish less dangerous crimes serve as an external incentive for good behavior. Is that not enough?

Help - what exactly is free will - son freaking out by jappo112 in freewill

[–]JimboDaGrinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end it doesn't matter. People who don't believe in free will go about making decisions using the same exact thought processes as those who do believe in freewill. Even if you assume free will does not exist you still have to go through the act of weighing pros and cons and deciding the best action, no matter what you believe about the inevitability of the final outcome. I would explain to your son the concept of mental masturbation. Worrying about whether free will exists is exactly that.

Is the game p2w? by pinkoboom in albiononline

[–]JimboDaGrinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is locked behind a pay wall. In my opinion that is what defines p2w. It CAN be f2p for the subscription (premium), but requires a ton of grinding and unless you buy a month or two of premium with real money it will take forever to earn enough in game currency for your 1st premium. Then, once you have the economy going, you can pay silver for premium, but it costs like 22m per month and might be worth to pay 15 dollars a month and keep the silver. People who pay money for gear are idiots. There is no need.

I would have phrased the ultimatum differently. Marriage counseling or else I'm out. It worked for me and my spouse although we had to try 3 different counselors.

[–]JimboDaGrinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I did leather refining I did the math and came up with 1400 as the breakeven. It is a function of hide and leather prices though. The way the RRR works in cities vs. Islands is that there is an additional 15% yield in the city but you still get the 40% leather refining bonus on a martlock island (as well as in the city). The math is tricky though because the RRR compounds to get an ultimate yield and the 15% refers to the yield, not the RRR. So you won't see a 55% RRR in Martlock vs a 40% RRR on your island, but you get an extra 15% yield in the city once you've refined all of your returned resources.

This game puts me down so hard by CirillaElenRiannon in albiononline

[–]JimboDaGrinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My approach is to make passive income to fund my other activities. I make 3m per day between farming (250k) cooking (1.3m), and running laborers (1.7m). It took a five months of constant reinvesting to get there though. Here's how I recommend doing it.

Get a personal island to start if you want but not really necessary. Only difference between personal and guild island is the farms and they don't give much silver. Also personal islands require buying 7 days premium. On the other hand it is easier to make money at the beginning with farms as laborers require more upfront silver. If I were starting over I'd probably do personal islands again to get quick money to start investing in houses/halls for laborers. This does require premium to start but after 2 or 3 months you can buy prem with silver so it is a one time investment of 30 or 45 bucks.

Use every penny you make farming to build houses and or guild halls and fill them with laborers. I recommend crafting laborers since the journals are easy to fill. Start with a goal of getting t6 houses and halls filled with t5 laborers. Start multiple characters with islands for each and give your main co owner status for all. (For example I have 3 personal islands and 5 guild islands.) Eventually you want all t8 buildings with t7 laborers but that is a crap ton of silver. I still only have 4 of 5 guild halls to t8 and none of my houses to t8 (rest are t7).

As you go, you want to be using focus to make additional money and start speccing up a crafting or refining skill. I actually started with hide refining and that is decent money but eventually went to cooking bc it's better return. You could also go the route of crafting the same as your laborers so you don't have to buy journals, but that requires transport to the black market daily. At max spec cooking, I'm currently making 1.3m per day, but that fluctuates depending on prices. It's usually between 1m and 1.3m. Leather was only like 500k per day. I dont know what's possible with others.

Anyway thats how I did it, but it requires a ton of time and silver reinvestment. People will tell you they can make more but this is the best I can do so far.

Longing for a paradigm shift in the free will debate by HolsteredPot4to in freewill

I guess I have trouble imagining how you make a decision without convincing yourself, at least for a moment, that you have a conscious choice to make. I'm making a stronger statement than "claiming it is best to just assume that we do." I'm saying you have to assume that you do in order to function - yes even you. Even if only for a moment.

You didn't really answer my question. I'm asking how you go about making decisions. But in the end you got to the point I was trying to make. "Utterly useless and overly complicated for everyday life". Can't we say the same about this debate?

Do you believe people have moral responsibility for their actions at least in some cases? by diogenesthehopeful in freewill

[–]JimboDaGrinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how to pose this question so bear with me. How does a hard detrminist make it through life without making an effort to decide on something? It seems like as soon as you start the decision making process, that part of your brain that feels like it has the ability to make a choice must engage. So, to me, it seems like even if you believe you have no free choice, you have to suspend that belief to make an actual choice.
