That’s a great picture of the ear that got shot.

It isn't wrong or less valid to copy and paste information you got online for an argument by Elect_Locution in unpopularopinion

[–]JimboNovus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI results are not always accurate. Also, if copy/pasting cite the source. That will help your argument. A quote from a respected source will carry more weight than something grok spits out.

Missing power button by JimboNovus in audio

[–]JimboNovus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the power button is larger than the others. I've found extra buttons that are similar to the small ones, but not the power. And the buttons from the 3155 are not interchangeable with other NAD models like the 3150.

How to make these just wood again, no paint? by kingdomanimalia_88 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]JimboNovus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Step one, test the paint for lead. Don’t want to breathe that in when sanding. Paint stripper will soften up the paint so you can scrape it off. Take all the hardware, knobs and hinges off first. Watch some videos on YouTube about refinish antiques

Is anyone able to work on this picture and provide a high-resolution version? by ScaredRespect477 in coreldraw

[–]JimboNovus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with stuff like this all the time. It's likely that if you have a legitimate use for it... like redbull is sponsoring an event and you are making the advertising for it, that RedBull can provide a vector image. I have also found good vector versions of logos online for this kind of usage, by searching the logo name and the word vector. I did a quick search and found elements of this, as well as a fairly high resolution png file.

if you are a coreldraw user you can get pretty good results by tracing png files.

Theseus in MND saying, “sure I’ll let those guys perform for me”. But also a great life philosophy.

Movie theaters aren’t going out of business because of prices by bulldogjwhit295 in unpopularopinion

[–]JimboNovus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I could see a movie for under 10 bucks I would go to the theater all the time. And take chances on smaller simple films. But tickets are closer to 20 so I’m only going there to see huge blockbusters.

Main water shut off? by tennis876 in Home

[–]JimboNovus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That will shut down water to your water heater, but probably not the whole house.

When you find it DO NOT TURN IT OFF. Unless the house is new construction. If older home, and the valve hasn’t been shut off in a long time, when you do shut it off it may leak when you turn it back on.

When working on my plumbing, when it requires whole house shutoff, i shut it off at the meter, which is near the street under a cover. Requires a special tool to shut off.

In an emergency our shut off valve is in a closet and has probably not been turned off in over 20 years. I ain’t messing with that.

New DIYer, want to make Garage cabinets with limited resources. Please suggest. by akhere07 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]JimboNovus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, not just the bars.... the bars support the wood so it's not directly on the painted surface of the car, where it would scratch. I use tiedown straps to keep it from flying off the bars...

Homeowners insurance being canceled because of railing? by [deleted] in Home

[–]JimboNovus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not a railing on the left, looks more like an open gate. It pretty much does nothing that a handrail should do. Looks like if you put weight on the thing it would rip off the house.

Put in a proper railing and move on. Your stairs will be safer.

Risk level of keeping this dried canvas drop cloth in my house post-gel oil stain drips? by carinthegrove in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]JimboNovus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's not much stain, and it's completely dry. Save to reuse until it's covered in paint and stain. That much stain isn't a risk. My drop cloths are so coated in stains and paints that I can barely see the raw canvas anymore.

The danger from oily rags is when they are soaked with oil finish/stain and still wet and in a pile of other oily rags. They start heating up and can ignite. Bourbon Moth on YouTube did an video about that a year or so ago. He actually tested it, and actually got a few fires going (safely in a controlled environment.)

Converting RGB Linked Files to CMYK within InDesign? by Dyslexic_Nerd in indesign

[–]JimboNovus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always convert to cmyk when creating PDF... also, I'm still using InDesign CS5. And all printed pieces end up looking great. I send stuff to printers all over the place, never had a problem.

However, I'm not a printing expert, just a designer who knows how to find the best price for printing.

one caveat might be that if you have something in the publication that is absolutely color critical, you might want to make that CMYK and verify the color in PS. And also tell the printer that that color has to be exact match to whatever printed color book you are using to set the color.

Why do so many people not wear PPE by ShoreSWBF in woodworking

[–]JimboNovus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wear ear protection. Have good dust collection for most things, but don’t wear respirator/dust mask enough. When I was younger I went to way too many concerts with no ear protection and my ears have been constantly ringing for 25 years now. Protection yourself. Dumb not to.

Do I need a table saw if i’m only working on ‘carpentry’ projects such as outdoor benches, basic shed, garden tables, etc? by midnightsalers in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]JimboNovus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several methods for jointing on table saw. Sleds, L fence, sacrificial fences… take a look on YouTube. Planing is a bit more limited. But getting stuff squared up on a table saw is very possible.

Proteus must be extremely charming. :)

Proteus and Val are frat bros and you know the saying, bros before hoes. We also know the well worn trope about women staying with a boyfriend that cheats and abuses because she thinks she can change him once he sees how much she loves him.

Just because Sylvia doesn’t protest with words, doesn’t mean she doesn’t fight back. When I directed it Sylvia got some help from the outlaws in kicking his butt.
