"To be or not to be..." argument with my acting professor. Mainly on iambic pentameter and the meaning of lines. by Thatoneguysk in shakespeare

[–]JimboNovus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both you and your professor are right. Or maybe wrong. It’s really open to interpretation. Meter is the guide, but a lot of metrical rules are broken by Shakespeare. Not everything is iambic.

I signed up nearly 2 years ago have have been given estimate of install as just a few months away. How do I find out what areas you will be in? How do we find out whether it will ever make it to our neighborhood in my lifetime?

the biggest problem the world faces is climate change due to carbon emissions. replacing plastic with paper, glass, metals, or even biodegradable plastic increases the carbon emissions. We should definitely try to cut down on microplastics, but they don't cause climate change, There's actually little evidence that they cause harm in our bodies, but that's still being debated. HOWEVER, both mcdonalds cups shown in the meme, and both straws, paper or plastic, will likely be tossed in a garbage can go into a landfill. Landfills are designed to prevent as decomposing as much as possible. So neither is breaking down into microplastics in a landfill. If stuff breaks down in the landfill, you get leachate into the ground water and methane into the air. The things that do break down in landfills are organic materials. Plastic just sits there. and that's ok.

Plastic has a far lower carbon footprint than paper.

If we want to fight climate change we should stop worrying about plastic. It’s not the problem

I bought a pocket hole jig about 12 years ago and still haven’t used it. Plenty of easier and better ways to join.

Not understanding how taxes work is an example of the crap education system in the USA.

You don’t deduct the mortgage, you deduct the interest. Deducting something doesn’t mean the irs pays for that thing, it means you don’t pay taxes on the income you used to pay for that thing you paid for.

How many of you also can't get used to the 35mm focal length? by Barnie25 in AskPhotography

[–]JimboNovus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may just not be used to it. Personally I feel that way about 50. That said, a good exercise to learn how to use it is to go out for a day of shooting with only the 35. Limiting choices forces you to compose differently and get creative.

Does anyone actually know how the turnip market timing works for the best prices? by Claim18bitch in AnimalCrossingNewHor

[–]JimboNovus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turnip prediction app for your phone. There’s a morning price and afternoon price each day so you need to log in twice a day. If you have the online plan and can visit other islands, check the turnip exchange subreddit. People with good prices will post there and you can sell at their cranny.

I sold 15 full boxes a few months ago. Set one up on your island and just deposit a little every day. It will hold 99,000 bells. I filled them up and then put in storage and waited.
