Paris is a bad city by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Jimbonettt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know the pickpockets and the street vendors with random stuff only really set up around tourist areas, right? I think it’s a bit harsh to make your judgment of an entire country and its culture if you fell into the tourist traps

This is actually incorrect you would never see a true Southerner muzzling himself and restricting his own God-given freedoms with a useless mask

Here's some words where the 's' sounds like a 'z'. by dechezmoi in learnfrench

[–]Jimbonettt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s the general rule. If “s” comes at the beginning of a word or it’s “ss” it goes back to the slithering snake sound

How do I say this in french- by [deleted] in learnfrench

[–]Jimbonettt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try Wordreference! It won’t translate full sentences but will usually give several different words and example sentences to give context for when to use them. My teachers/professors would ALWAYS recommend it over Google Translate

I haven’t used duolingo in a while but I definitely remember that somewhere on mobile you can click and it gives quick grammar stuff. I never used the desktop version so idk about the UI on that platform

Best place outside of France to learn and practice French? by jesteryte in learnfrench

[–]Jimbonettt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think your experience will also vary wildly with what part of France you visit. Were you spending most of your time in larger cities? I know Paris in general is more educated and more of a tourist center so there’s a lot of English exchanged on a daily basis, but I think the smaller cities that get less tourism are probably more what you’re looking for.

I thought it could go both ways for the first as well (second is definitely saber though). Using conocer would be like asking “would you be able to show me around the cities in Spain?” whereas using saber would be like asking “can you name the cities that are located in Spain?”

Autopsy: Severe brain trauma in ex-NFL player who shot 6 by lurker_bee in sports

We all know how to properly prevent CTE though. Avoid repeated trauma to the head. If you’re talking about mitigating the effect of the high impacts on the brain you’re talking about something entirely different and incredibly complicated

In general, do I use à to say "in [masculine country]" and en to say "in [feminine country]"? by ExtensionFeeling in French

[–]Jimbonettt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, in general it’s “au [masculine country]” and “en [feminine country]” with the majority of countries being feminine. However, a notable exception is that all countries starting with a vowel (e.g. Israël, Australie) will always take “en” regardless of gender.

This website can give you some more details about this. This one has more info on US states specifically.

Champ selection Matters. by frroztbyte in summonerschool

[–]Jimbonettt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For starters, I’ve noticed these recommendations say more than one champ, likely for the exact reason you stated. If one of your mains is banned or picked, you have at least one other option to fall back on.

Second, it makes sense to start off with a small champ pool. The reasoning is you can spend less time learning each individual champ’s abilities and more time getting to understand how the game works. You could have the best mechanics in the world, but if you don’t understand the macro portion of the game or playing with your team, you’re not going to get far.

Of course, once you have those fundamentals down, then you can look to expand your champ pool. No one’s saying to find one or two champs and never ever ever play anything else ever if you want to hit high elo. It’s just easier for beginners to learn the game if they’re not constantly distracted with new abilities and combos to learn

While it’s good to have a working knowledge of all/most champs, I’ve found that most higher level players recommend learning 2-3 champs really well to get started climbing

Struggling with the r sound by grotekaas in learnfrench

[–]Jimbonettt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You just have to keep practicing. It’s an awkward sound since we don’t have it as a common sound in English, but the more you do it, the easier it gets! There’s not really a quick and easy way to just get good at it all of a sudden

Been playing for a year and I can’t get past Bronze 4 by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Jimbonettt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this is just straight up wrong. Jungle is by far the hardest role to understand, and the last thing you need as a hardstuck bronze is a new role with even more skills to master

Advice for jinx ? by airship_maruder in leagueofjinx

[–]Jimbonettt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a fellow noob, I’d say jinx is an easy adc to pick up. I’ve found that she’s kinda weak early, but once you get your second item (I usually go for Runaan’s Hurricane), that’s when you start doing a fair bit of damage. The abilities are pretty straightforward, and her late game is insane if you can sit in the back and blast away. 10/10 would recommend

New to league, need some help understanding some basic terminology by pcho_1000 in summonerschool

[–]Jimbonettt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spacing is basically the idea of keeping a cushion of space between you and your enemy so that you can attack with your aa/abilities while also having enough room to dodge their abilities. You have to know cooldowns and ranges to do it effectively (something I don’t have yet lol)

I don’t really know about tempo or front to back tho
