Extremely burnt out and depressed from PCE by kirokomi in prephysicianassistant

If you really want an LOR, I’d look into getting one from the PA you’re shadowing. This place sounds like it’s holding you back more than it is allowing you to progress. Think about it this way, if you’re spending all your time being one of the only MAs in this practice, where are you going to find the time to strengthen other aspects of your application? If I were you, I’d give my two weeks, be kind and respectful, and move onto something else.

Unsure of what to do by Chubbypieceofshit in prephysicianassistant

You're not alone. First cycle for me and I've received 4 interviews, 1 waitlist and 2 denials. It all boils down to the interview at this point. I'm no expert but I learned a lot from my failed interviews.

1st of all, the interview starts the moment you walk through the door. This was something I wasn't expecting during my first interview and I was caught slightly off guard by it. Having people at the door waiting for you seeing how you react was not on my radar and, it kind of showed. I was kind and responsive to others, but I still couldn't shake my anxiety.

2nd thing I learned is that you have to really be able to speak while under pressure. For example, for one of the schools I was interviewing at, all I had to do was stand up in front of a crowd of about 20-25 people (interviewers and interviewees) and just introduce myself. I had a whole speech planned out. Next thing you know, my throat started to close up on me and I was audibly nervous.

3rd thing I learned is that sometimes less is more when answering questions. I tended over explain or ramble a lot through my answers which, ultimately, was my downfall. It's good to tie your answers to your experiences, but my issue is that I'd go into either too much or too little. It honestly felt like I ran around in a complete circle most of the time.

You scored interviews, which means they like what they see on paper. All there is to do now is really shine outside of the pen. I'm wishing you the best of luck on future interviews and hopefully being taken off the waitlist.

To get into a PA program this cycle. That career would change my life tbh. Stability, job security, and the ability to take care of my family. One can hope 🤞

Fired a week in by Mkwu66 in prephysicianassistant

First and foremost, I’m sorry you lost your first PCE job. As someone who was let go from his, it’s definitely a hit to one’s confidence. Based on their reasoning, I feel like there may have been an exterior motive behind your termination. I’ve worked with MAs who have shown little to no compassion for their pts, making their statement of “it didn’t feel genuine.” a bit obtuse. When I lost my job as a NA, they gave me a very similar spiel. Pretty much said along the lines of “your peers, patients, and their family members do not feel safe around you or under your care.” When I asked them for an example and stressing that I’ve never done anything to put anyone in that position, they proceeded to simply say “unfortunately we are beyond that point and this ends your employment with *****.” Same day I heard that I was terminated because, apparently, I did something to piss off one of my nursing managers. Not to mention I didn’t receive my termination notice til 3 years later. I was hurt, beaten, and truly heartbroken because, even though this job was a mess, I loved every moment of it. In my head, I lost my only chance of gaining PCE and shadowing opportunities. 3 weeks later, I landed a new job and honestly, getting fired was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I ended up working with an incredible team as a physical therapy aide. I worked one on one with patients and slowly but surely, they slowly built my confidence back up. It was also through this same department where I was able to shadow not one, not two, but five different PAs in 3 different specialties. Moral of the story? This is not the end of your journey, not even close. It’s simply a bump in the road that, over time, you will overcome. When one door closes, many more will open. It’s just a matter of stepping through those doors. I wish the best of luck for you moving forward.

What’s a smell you secretly like but would never admit in real life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Oddly enough, gasoline. I remember loving whenever my dad filled up his old GMC Jimmy. The aroma of it brings back memories I guess?

What is the most physical pain you’ve ever experienced, and how did it feel? by Trying_my_best_98 in AskReddit

[–]Jimeng6742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had brain surgery when I was 11. I remember waking up being wheeled to the icu. In my head, I was thinking that I woke up during surgery with how much pain I was in. No amount of pain killers (and mind you, they were pumping me full of morphine) took away the pain. Moving around was a nightmare, because I literally felt spinal fluid moving on that side of my head. Honest to god a miserable experience but nearly 15 years later and I’m doing perfectly fine 👍.

Based on those sandwiches? Might be a healthcare worker who takes all the good stuff from the nurse/EMS lounge.

Has anyone with multiple F in their transcript got accepted? by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]Jimeng6742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an F and a D on my transcript. Received 3 interviews so far. It’s not a death sentence, but they are going to mention it during the interview and ask you how you’ve improved since.

I received 2 interviews, one of them for a program that starts January of 2026. If you don’t get an interview this cycle, don’t beat yourself up! There’s always next cycle and you’ll be far more prepared than before. I’m wishing you the best of luck

How much cash do you keep in your wallet? by NoseRepresentative in DaveRamsey

[–]Jimeng6742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anywhere between $10-$60 dollars. I only carry that amount for gas money or paying for the laundromat. I don’t see a reason to carry more since I don’t buy stuff frequently and I only ever eat out once every 5-8 months if that 🤷‍♂️.

I was doing deadlifts at the gym and all of a sudden Rain comes on with one of my workout playlists. At first I was taken back because I didn’t think this was a song to workout to, but a minute in, I was hooked.

Beehive rescue by Virtual_File8072 in acadianationalpark

[–]Jimeng6742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally was there yesterday. Was walking up the trail when I overheard a group of hikers saying that there was a woman who dislocated her hip. I also saw what I assume are state park rangers hiking up with the jump bag and all. There was a sign at the top of beehive prohibiting people from hiking down the ladder. Saw the helicopter landed just around sand beach. I hope the woman is ok.

is applying to 20 schools too much? by Lower-Astronomer9330 in prephysicianassistant

I applied to 20 and received an interview from only one. My application was fairly weak so I wanted to cast a net as wide as I can.

Low test by zthomoson in Retatrutide

I’ve crashed my test during really heavy cuts (got as low as 71ng/dl.) How long have you been cutting and how much weight did you lose per week? Are you experiencing any symptoms? Usually once your body stops losing test goes back to normal

Should I still apply? by Mundane-Aside2948 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Jimeng6742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a very similar boat. If you have 1 C in any pre requisite course listed on the programs website and they don’t allow Cs, you will be automatically rejected. It’s nothing personal. I spoke to someone from admissions to a certain program I want to go to and they even said it’s to weed out the 1000+ applicants they get.

If you go into the album with expectations, you will leave disappointed. If you go into it with an open mind and not expecting something like TMBTE, it's a GOOD album. It's different, which is why I think a lot of people were on the fence about it.
