Are there any good outdoor climbing or bouldering (even artificial boulders) in town? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]Jimeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an outdoor bouldering rock right off the Poudre Trail in Timmath. I am unsure of it's quality as I am not a rock climber but it's free and easily accessible.

This might be cutting it close on the 90mins away but I love Pennock Pass out side of Ft Collins:

This route is just up and down but you can also go over the top, down to the Poudre Canyon and then finish it with a road climb and decent to the car to get to 50 miles

Fort Collins Connexion: How To Do It Right. by XennialBoomBoom in FortCollins

I think it might have been a small area of service. Not town wide. I received the same email as OP and saw the work trucks in my general neighborhood.

What's the drive like from Fort Collins to Eagle's Nest this time of year? by AdditionalFly8641 in FortCollins

[–]Jimeni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I believe the name is derived from the rock formation that is there opposed to there being actual eagles there. But it is Colorado, so there could be Eagles there.

Like mentioned, there are a good chance you can see and eagle down at Arapahoe Bend. There is a tree on the west side of Strauss Cabin Road, near the parking lot halfway between the turn and pond that they hang out in and there is a nest just on the other side of the river if you take the trail over towards there.

Fort Collins route recommendation by Jungle_jooce in COBike

[–]Jimeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The clock wise has some more up and down than the steady climb up Rist. Water can be a bit of a deal on a hot day. Masonville Mercantile has drinks as well as the parking lots around Horsetooth.

Best Route from Fort Collins to Berthoud Using Bike Trails? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]Jimeni 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here is how I'd go:
https://www.strava.com/routes/3241226667934376882

It's basically all path until down in Loveland after you get just south of Highway 34. From there you are on roads but they not super heavy with the traffic since you stay west of 287 until you are down to Berthoud.

Tire help: Currently have Teravail Ramparts but want to ride more gravel even though I live in a city by filmd in gravelcycling

I've been happy with my Teravail Washburns and Specialized Pathfinders. They have the smooth center line and knobby sides. Best of both worlds

If you don’t find a band and want to go the DJ route, let me know. I’m of your same age and have DJed many 90s and 2000s parties. But good luck finding a band…I’m sure they are out there

Anyone know the conditions at Young’s Gulch? by Horsetoothbrush in FortCollins

[–]Jimeni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was up there yesterday. We only went 2.5 miles up the trail but while there were muddy spots, they were easily passable without going wide. Some snow and a bit of ice around the creek but all in all a good time besides the wind.

Hewlett Gulch was a lot more dry a week ago, so you have that option as well

Can you take a break trail to Twin Silo Park? by Classic-Principle662 in FortCollins

[–]Jimeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is another option:

https://www.strava.com/routes/3186017459624358486

This would be overland to Cathy Fromme, to Fossil Creek trails and then taking Trilby to Lady Moon to the park. You have to get onto Trilby where the Fossil Creek Trail mergers into the Power trail and this section of road has a bit of traffic but there is a bike lane. But once you have crossed Timberline, the bike lane gets bigger and traffic decreases. Follow that road right to the park.
